Pixel 10 Pro short review

10 days later, I have a review.

I previously had a Pixel 9 which I sold within a month because of heating issues and slow charging. I switched back to iOS but was itching to go back to Android because of Better file management, System wide swipe to go back, Better keyboard, Gemini and Good camera for pictures. iPhones have always had great cameras but I can only say that for videos. Also notifications are a mess on iOS.

I bought Pixel 10 Pro taking a huge risk given the history of Pixel devices facing heating issues and slow performance but I have no other options in Android as I hate anything other than Bloatware free OS.

I am happy with the device so far. Phone heats but not as much as the Pixel 9.
Camera is fantastic and so is the battery. Easily lasts a day for me.
Android Auto is a hiccup but it’s a minor convenience.
Build Quality is solid and device feels premium.

Attaching here 2 images taken at 1x and 100x.

ok

His review for his next phone will say same thing as top quote :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I must be completely blind to bloatware issue then. In ten years I’ve never been bothered.

And then I see the ā€œunbloatedā€ equivalents and realise they miss a number of things that I got used to with the ā€œbloatedā€ equivalents.

I’m amazed at the 100x photo though. How is that even possible. Or is that a typo and the optical stopped at 10x. Still for digital to go that far is surprising :open_mouth:

Earlier I saw a comparison of iPhone 17 max at 8x and 20x and the result was not as spectacular

You haven’t been bothered doesn’t mean it’s not there. What I meant was Vanilla OS. I don’t know if you are blind or not, I don’t know much about you. As far as your prediction about what I will say about my future phone, let’s see.
That 100x zoom isn’t a typo.

Good phone. Great camera for stills. But inconsistent unlike iphones, when the white balance messes up it’ll do so big time. And videos are good but still not the industry leading. Pricey still. Modem remains a concern even now right? See where you are after a year with it. At the same price I don’t see any point for going with it over something like an iPhone 17 except the ecosystem.

The vanilla Android is the most reliable and consistent experience though. To hell with bloated sw. In any case, enjoy in good health.

Everyone who owns a pixel knows this deep down but won’t admit it🄲.

I got the og pixel xl (still have it) then all pros(xl) from 7 to 10. I bitch about them all the time but would miss it every time I switch away to another phone.

It hard to admit that (or anyone else) hasn’t happened yet. In Android, I see either Pixel or nothing else. I don’t see myself switching to iOS again so for now I can admit i will keep this for long despite the flaws. (I know there are but at least less than my previous Pixel which was 9)

why would you buy the same thing when you know about the heating issues T_T

Also might wanna read up about debloater tools or adb and then you have a much wider variety of phones to choose from next time.

Debloating makes even a Xiaomi phone better. Also, imo, the best android experience is not pixel. Samsung has been miles ahead if you remove all bloat. Even moto is good once you remove bloat.

Read that it’s less in p10 pro compared to 9 and it is. anyways this post was a reply to someone’s request of a mini review on the show off thread more than seeking a validation.

Have you given nothing phones a try? Their os is nearly stock (completely if you choose the stock option during first boot up)

It’s a matter of personal taste. People who like pixel will almost never like the Samsung UI (at least I never did). It’s not end of the world but sure it’s kinda icky.

yeah I really wanted to give nothing phone a try. I read that the image processing is crap and camera isn’t worth it at all.

True but why is it such a problem for you

Yeah, this mantra has been said for over a decade now. Motorola and Sony were recommended as similar for the same reason.

I’m typing this on an EOL S20FE and there is no lag. What bloat. Everything works as fast as it did when I got this thing three years back.

Battery has been fine for all of that period.

My gripe about pixel and erstwhile Nexus is you can’t be squeamish if you want to live on the edge. Yeah, that’s part of the appeal too. Being the first to get whatever Android has.

Though of late google is making a shift towards ā€˜lifestyle’ customers because appealing to techies isn’t enough to balance the books

^that guy really knows how to make the most use of his pixel. But they kicked him off the reviewers list..for being crtical of googles present direction

If lighting is tricky even a pro camera will screw up the white balance. Easily fixed in post since a decade ago

Yeah, this what I meant by cannot be squeamish if you want to live on the edge.

I prefer to wait a bit and get a bug free experience.

What I find missing is before and after tests showing some tangible improvement after debloating.

I’ve gone through these debloat lists line by line and many of the things stripped out are what make the phone so good to use in the first place. To the point I’ve never bothered. What really drove me over the top was seeing googles easter egg app being removed. WTH! Just lost all interest after that with de-bloating.

Granted I’m looking at top end phones. Lower end might be a different story. But this is a flagship thread.

I am also on Samsung Team but these days kinda wonder about how is one plus will it give better experience than my lengendary samsung Just a thought! Please shed some advice or I am currently in my prime?

digital cropping with AI, 100x cropped photos have become common these days, check out vivo/oppo’s shots

I had severe issues with my Pixel 6 with the mdem, inconsistent 4g at the time. Sad to see the issue is still there

Fuckin pixel 6.. just 3 months in i sold it and vowed to never buy a pixel again.

This phone really had every problem.. cheap build quality, bad modem, no battery life, over heating, camera module over heating, keep it in the sun for 2 min.. over heating.. overheating while android auto lmao.. random restarts..

I don’t even understand how these phones make it into production.. and fanboys on reddit still somehow justify them.

Edit: 10 pro does look nicely designed and premium.. but a tensor chip.. never again..never.. the trauma is still fresh lol

What about iphone 17 pro?

same thing across all phones and models. its all digital zoom and cropping, telephoto only goes so far, though the big 3 rely more heavily on it
