Ubiquiti just dropped their UniFi 5G lineup and it looks solid!

Ubiquiti finally announced their UniFi 5G lineup, and honestly, it looks like a pretty sweet setup for anyone looking to add cellular redundancy or just needs high-speed internet in a remote spot.

Here’s the lowdown on the new gear:

  • UniFi 5G Max (Indoor): This thing is super clean. It’s a compact desk/wall unit that you can power via PoE. The best part? You can plug it into any PoE port on your switch, and it automatically shows up as a WAN interface. No extra power cables or messy wiring—pretty sorted scene. Supports speeds up to 2 Gbps.

  • UniFi 5G Max Outdoor: Basically the rugged brother of the indoor unit. It’s IP67 rated, so it can handle our monsoons and heat without breaking a sweat. Perfect if you need to mount it on the roof for better signal reception.

  • Dream Router 5G Max: This is the big one. It’s an all-in-one gateway with WiFi 7 onboard. If you have a small office or a remote setup where you don’t want a rack full of gear, this handles routing, WiFi, and 5G connectivity in one box.

The best part? The entire lineup is fully unlocked. It supports both physical SIMs and eSIMs, so you can easily pop in a Jio, Airtel, or Vi SIM (or set up a failover) without worrying about carrier locking.

It seems perfect for keeping the network live when the local fiber guy decides to cut cables randomly (we’ve all been there ).

What do you guys think? Anyone planning to pick one up for a backup link?

Ubiquiti is killing it.
They’re priced as per US market and generally 2x of what Indians want to pay. If you’re tired of Chinese equipment and want to try something stable but not very nerdy and ready to spend, these are great.

Last week they launched a wireless switch. Crazy good.

What are the chances of Jio banning IMEIs of these devices for 5G? I have seen this done before.

I have a banana pi r4 for a router and a basic AP which itself is an overkill for me. so what is the equivalent for a outdoor 5G option for me. just for a back up connection. no need anything fancy. asking here because many who are using ubiquity gear now have used similar good enough stuff before.
