Need your advice on a budget NAS build

Quick update on the problem of safe shutdowns with a dumb UPS: I found this nifty tool called “UPS Server” the other day, which basically pings a couple of always-on IoT “sentinel” devices that are on the same network. It has a companion tool called UPS Monitor which runs on the client devices you need to shutdown. If the sentinel devices go down at the same time, it tells the client devices (that have UPS Monitor running) to shutdown gracefully. Also supports WoL, but it hasn’t worked in my cas…
