Whats your feedback on the market hub

I never use the ‘Market (beta)’ cause it makes me click 2-3 times to get to the information I want, like who at the Discourse thought it was a good idea to hide the thread behind top level listing so that you can’t see the discussion even after clicking on it?

I use Classified as it was intended before the redesign and use tags to get to the subcategory I want, but the current tags are lacklustre and I miss how orgnised it used to feel before. Some tags are outright missing and there is no hierarchical structure to it.

Basically, we have two different systems to access the same things and both are missing critical features or are designed poorly. Smh, that ends my today’s rant.

This. It used to be really simple to see listings.

You had the link, you clicked it, and all the information was there. Scroll down a bit and you have the discussions.

But now if I want to view listings, I’ll have to:

  1. Click on the listing.
  2. Click on view discussions.
  3. Possibly contact the seller.
  4. Navigate all the way back to the marketplace if I want to see something else.
  5. Repeat

Also, can we have some sort of fuzzy search for categories please? Right now I’ll have to navigate though the entire tree to figure out what I want.

It seems like on desktop when mouse cursor hovers over the listing, this menu pops up automatically.

TE Market hover

On phones however, user has to tap on the listing once, which opens this menu.

If we go View ListingView discussion, it takes 2 clicks on Desktop, but on phone it takes 3 taps to reach the discussion thread.

To somewhat solve this issue which @bakasur points out. We could have a button here which takes user directly to the discussion thread.

But this will bypass the market listing page completely. Not sure if this is good idea.

Couple of suggestions:

  1. Text in the original post should also be visible in the listing without having to open the thread using “view discussion”. Images are not enough.
  2. From the listings page, you can’t open a listing a new tab because “view listing” is not a link. Not ideal.

Ignore if someone already suggested.

So much for 1 item per topic -

Probably better to bring back this rule only when it can be practically implemented. Otherwise it’s nonsensical.

I think we need to close down Market.

Nailed it

I appreciate your feedback. Hope the Mods do too. My point is not to make an unenforceable enforcement.

None of the rules are enforceable, even the basic 2 pics per item rule.

Is there a way to open listings in a new window? I don’t see open link in new tab when I right click on any part of a seller listing, and Ctrl+click also does nothing, I don’t want to go back and forth between each post and the listings page

How does one edit fields on top of the sale thread. I’m not getting an option to edit these on the edit page.

You can edit price at
Market (beta) > Seller Hub > View all listings
https://techenclave.com/market/manage/listings

Rest of the fields are not editable, since they generally shouldn’t be changing once listed. You can withdraw listing and create a new listing if there are changes there.

Someone above has even objected about price being editable.

Is there any example where someone edited the price this way, and the “View Price History” feature is visible? I wanted to see what it looks like. I went through several listings but couldn’t find any. Not sure if it’s because people aren’t using it and are still resorting to updates in comments, or if it’s a visibility issue/bug.

I have been able to partially resolve this with @Heisen 's help, by creating a custom section for Latest Listings available at this link:

The previous forum had an option to filter the latest listings page by component (like processor, video card, storage etc.). The current listings page only allows filtering by tags, which everyone doesn’t bother to put so I can’t reliably use to keep an eye on latest listings for any individual component or peripheral, like monitors or ssds. The marketplace section has the ability to filter by component category but it doesn’t have right click option so I can’t open listings on a new page, are there any plans to implement filtering of Latest Listings by component category like Marketplace?

To access the Classifieds category, you don’t need a custom section. You can just edit your Categories nav bar and tick the Classifieds option.

I decided to change the status of a previous listing from Withdrawn to Available.

Status has been updated to Available but the listing is uneditable and also doesn’t show up in the seller hub.

Seems the seller hub is quite disconnected from normal functions.

When I go to my own post from the general market section, I am not getting the options to bump the post:

To do that, I am having to go through My messages or my profile, and then to my activity, and then topics, and then look for the post and then go to it and make changes.

Entirely user hostile. Why so many clicks. When I am on any post of thread of mine, does it not make sense to have all the options available?

  1. Market (beta) → Seller Hub → Bump selected

  1. Within your listing, View Discussion → Bump Listing.

To be honest, bump no longer needed, since it doesn’t change position in Marketplace.

I just realised this (haven’t been on the forum much lately). Why keep the feature at all then? Does it serve any other purpose other than being a placebo for us relics?

It matters for the “Latest” feed page + Classified section, as far as I know. Bumping does push your post to the top there. So for anyone browsing classifieds directly or checking the latest feed, it will show up there.

Then why so much duplication? Genuinely curious. Why can we have one rather than have so many different things to add to the general chaos and confusion?
