Whats your feedback on the market hub

Will start work on ironing out the common niggles of the market section overall, so request everyone to share their feedback. It could be a moderation issue, feature request, bug, suggestion, solution to problems posted by others..

Few things on the radar are: Whatsapp and facebook resellers on TE and people selling on behalf of other sellers. Streamlining of market sections. Auto closing of topics does not seem to be working. Enhancing the trust system.

Hope everyone has had the time to look at the following sections:

PS: The User-to-user listing section will be closed down on 30th November and all listing topics in that section will be closed and moved.

Better moderation in regards to strict adherence with Posting rules. Many times new members flout the rules and the listing stays up for days with no interference from mods.

I have the following suggestions:

  1. Make the images uploaded/listed to be resized to fit the screen.
  2. Clicking the ad maybe opens it up in a new window?

Make everything modifiable even after listing. I can’t change the location and other details in my listing.

Which rules do they specifically flout? Image posting rules I presume as I have noticed that happening a lot.

Other things are system controlled. I am planning on automating this as well so that moderator workload is minimized or eliminated.

Can you please elaborate more on this. Images are anyway arranged in a nice grid right now on the topic. On the hub they are in a card/carousel kind of view and fixed in height and width.

Mostly the images with handwritten notes are missing, alongwith non attachment of invoice for in warranty items.

  1. The post structure is a bit iffy, maybe that is due to the template posters are using. Where’s the poster’s location? Not in the post text, but in a separate tag at the top.
  2. The side scroll bar takes too much of space and doesn’t provide any utility. Browsers have a scrollbar anyways.
  3. Posters are able to delete prices after closing the deal. Total idiot move, IMHO.

  1. all information about the listing is on the top block including the location
  2. side scroll bar, where? Are you talking about the slider which lets users go to specific posts? That is a native discourse feature
  3. Posters may be able to delete the prices but all the prices changes are recorded and preserved in the price change history.

Can you share where this is visible for any post? I couldn’t find it.

Here’s what I mean with examples:

  1. Make the images uploaded/listed to be resized to fit the screen.

  1. Clicking the ad maybe opens it up in a new window?
→ Looks like the back navigation works fine now

Would love to know what action is being taken against Users like this who relist other resellers items as their own without the product in hand and not informing the buyers.

Registered resellers listing other resellers items is a gray area I guess.

How is this anyway better or healthy for the forum?
Not blaming the user here, they are simply following the new rules of listing every item individually. But this looks like a step back and unnecessary clutter to me. Earlier, this whole page could have been a single thread. Smh

We would not say the same if the ten listings were created by ten different users. This will happen even in the previous setup when the number of users using the market increases.

You can mute the classifieds category from here.

The problem is I don’t want to mute classifieds. I am interested in some items some times.

There was and is no way to consolidate different listings from different users, is there? But there was a way to consolidate multiple listings from the same user, which we made obsolete now.

It’s not like we have hundreds of users posting multiple items every day, so there wasn’t the clutter you are talking about. Only few power users need to post multiples. The previous system allowed them to post without cluttering our feed. Now, they have to do this, and every time they will bump up these posts, the feed will be overtaken by a single user.

Perhaps you can start a poll, if there is sufficient consensus over a period of one month that this is not desirable, then we can tweak things.

We can look at maybe restricting one active listing per user and asking users to consolidate items in their one active listing. Each listing can have a lifetime of say 1 month.

The strike through can be interpreted either ways…

Is it sold or Not sold.

How about moving sold listings to a dedicated SOLD section. This is similar to how slickdeals does where expired deals are moved to a different section called “Deal Talk”.

SOLD listings are supposed to be moved to Archived / Closed-Listings section. That is how it used to happen anyway when sellers would ask the mods to close the threads for them. When we moved to Discourse, it was supposed to happen without mods’ intervention using autoclose once you mark it sold. But that function is glitching atm. It might work again once Renegade gets to it, should be in the pipeline, I think.
