Not true…There is substantial evidence where China has put many small nations into debts with projects that were never going to be profitable as they made it look and then make them agree to considerable deals for Chinese companies, Chinese goods and Chinese people to work there beside ports and airports under chinese control.
Sri Lanka , Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal and many others have suffered from this debt-trap .
On top the covid-19 caused by chinese further put them in more trouble .
I Think one African leader even warned the African nations to not fall for Chinese Loan traps.
China maybe loosing money right now but these are long term plans anyways.
USA too took lot of losses in early days of its empire growth before it manage to control world trade and become a dominant power.
It is with every growing empire.
India’s influence has barely managed to keep these nations little less on Chinese side.
I will not even say neutral.
These small nations treat India for granted whereas with China they ready to return the favour.
Like I said with Bangaldesh they did a good thing bringing it down to 60 cr. I would prefer it was zero because in anycase they are running Anti-India show openly there.
So what difference this 60cr anyways make . I dont think 60cr is much for them too but still.
Maldives too ..550cr…they did not even let India keep Rescue helicopters. Pushed them out with slogans " India get out"
All these despite of India providing covid vaccines to them first. India runs quite a few medical hospital also ( if I am correct) in Maldives.
Called India a bully…they should go and ask Philippines what a bully China is …those poor guys cannot even take their fishing boats out easily.
Edit- Another example, Nepal recently put disputed map with India on its currency notes. Now that particular dispute area is more to do with river happen to change its course . So not even like India took that land . it just that over the years due to river making changes. The land falls into India’s teriiroty .
On other hand China has constructed Village inside Nepal territory . A full land grab but Nepal is pretending all is okay.
India gave island to Myanmar . Myanmar goes and gift to China.
They have no respect or concern for India’s security and then expect us to keep giving them aids. Did not even ask India if it is okay to go ahead with gifting it to China?
China recently even took back 2 pandas from Japan Zoo because Japan PM said something which Chinese di not like.
