This is for 2FA right? What does it have to do with choice of OS?
Right. When ever I want to install MS 365 or run Xbox Gamepass it’s asking for 2FA code.
I am tired of this shit.
Pop OS or Bazzite I will run.
For this reason, it rarely ends well when a new user installs Linux as their primary OS. It’s better to use it in a virtual machine (not even dual-boot) and get familiar first. Once confident, then move to using it as the primary OS.
I have been trying to install Linux distro like Ubuntu since a decade ago but now I have tried to install Bazzite with secure boot on and it didn’t boot so again installed Windows.
This was last month.
I was just adding to what @Tracer_Bullet said in general; it wasn’t aimed at you.
You can try linux without installing using “live cd”. Just Google it but becareful you may wipe your disk if not careful.
I don’t think he has any idea what he wants. He is tired of Windows asking for 2FA for Xbox gamepass, so he is moving to an operating system where Gamepass won’t even work even if the 2FA works.
I can run Gamepass by linking to Battlenet.
ChatGPT is giving Pop OS and Nobara OS as best for Gaming.
Then which OS to go with?
I want latest FSR4 to be implemented and want to have maximum number of games compatability.
Have to remember that Linux is for people with tinkering mindset. Not as easy as MS Windows, will need lot of work if it needs to be your daily driver.
Did you check steamos ?, asking only because it’s primarily for gaming.
Steam OS not yet released as General Release. It needs a lot of tinkering.
Take a blank hard disk and start experimenting. Install, see if it works for you. Else install something else. Do give it some time for each install.
I think Bazzite should be a good enough option for a newbie. But i havent used it myself.
Any distro with KDE Plasma feels like Windows. Even better.
Anduin OS it’s a windows 11 look alike Ubuntu based distro
I have installed Windows 11 iot Enterprise LTSC Edition and planning to install one of the following linux Distros. Please tell if my present OS is good or should I install any one of the other linux Distros?
They are probably all good for their use case. I like Kubuntu and some people consider it trash.
If i were to play more games on linux, purely based on what i read/heard in few fragmented places, i would try bazzite and cachyos. Bazzite might be more noob friendly too.
Pop os from what i read, is slow and behind even ubuntu. If so, i dont think its a good option for gaming, but i could be wrong.
Best - Just try them one by one and to avoid newbie mistakes, ideally install them on a separate disk than windows. Give each some time to get used to it when possible.
AMD drivers dont need separate installation on linux, so it should be easy enough.
Linux Mint (Cinnamon) will be my top pick..All old hardware detected automatically …No fuss os…If Nvidia Gpu go for Pop os
Does Linux Mint has Gaming Software built in or do I have to install later by any command?
Most of the distributions at some point in time would require some command line interaction to either configure the software, if the GUI tool has limited capability.
As, others have pointed out it is better to try out the Linux distributions on a spare drive and try them out for some period of time as a daily driver and see which ones is more intuitive and easier to work with.
If you do only gaming then Bazzite. Mint is good for beginners. You can just try all those using a spare ssd or creating live linux on pen drive which will be bit slow but you can get an idea.
