Ill be getting one of it

For 1 Tb wd and for 1.5tb its seagate as i guess u dont get one from western digital..

Wanted to know which one should i get any particular number or what..and how is the firmware scenario for each..

As it will be mainly used to dump data...slower speed wont affect me but drive should be stable enough

Get a 1TB WD Green. Peace of mind. The 1TB offers the best bang for buck now.

1TB - Rs.4000(4 rs per GB)

1.5TB - Rs.6500(4.33 rs per GB)

The per GB cost is the lowest in the 1TB HDD. No other capacity has lesser per GB value.

PS: Considering 1GB - 1000MB :)

Thanks for quick reply..but theoretically 1gb=1024 mb...but i guess ill get somewhere ard 960-980gb as other is used for internal memory addressing

Btw do u know the serial number and is it 16mb or 32mb cache one

I know theoretically 1GB - 1024MB but you wont get that much in HDD. Check the websites. They consider this calculation only.

One gigabyte (GB) = one billion bytes. One terabyte (TB) = one trillion bytes.

1Tb = 931 GB

My friend has a 1TB external HDD. You get only this much capacity.

same applies to a 1.5 TB HDD. So anyhow the 1TB will work out to be cheaper solution :)

WD Green 16MB drive - WD10EACS

WD Green 32MB drive - WD10EADS

You can get a Seagate 7200.12 HDD with 32MB cache for similar price. IMO go for WD as this is just a back up drive and performance is not a issue.
