Nah that cant be done, there is always balance in nature.
So to counter Apple fanboys, there will always be anti-fanboys and flaming in this universe or universe will collapse on itself and we will all die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not favor fanbosim! :P

Exactly remember Apple doesnt make for the geeks and the modders. Heck they dont even make for the 95% of the market. But ppl like us who do buy Apple, get premium service.

My Wind cost my 25K and so does the iPad. My reasons for preferring the iPad

1) Small, as small as my Wind so its great

2) Thinner

3) Does everything my wind can. Ie Surf, Docs, PPT's

4) Runs iPhone games

5) Touchscreen

6) Beautiful

7) 3G, I can even use my MTNL 3G card in it. (I have to pay 5K more...but worth it)

Only negative is no USB ports, but with Wifi all over in my college, not that necessary. And multi-tasking is possible by the use of third party apps.

errr.

its more like 7.5k more for 3G not 5k.

It will be pusing 36-38k locally provided it even makes it here.

Two reasons why its a disappointing product

- Its made by Apple, so its bound to be 1% technology and 99% marketing.

- There is no specific target market where it does not have either superior or cheaper alternatives, some from its own stables.

One reason why its will still sell.

- The iFans. They will create a new market where one did not exist earlier if only to get this to sell.

1. iPad is thinner and lighter, but still has a similar sized screen as the Wind. so its only just as portable. Furthermore, its easier to keep a Net top safe in a bag compared to the iPad. Just imagine what's going to happen to that screen if its not taken care of properly.

2. You can have a full fledged desktop OS running on a net top with a choice between Windows, Linux and even Mac OS (Hackintosh).

3. Much better storage flexibility. You can upgrade the storage and you can also have easy access to the data on thumb drive or an external hdd. You can even access/write a CD/DVD with an external DVD writer. You can't do that with an iPad even if you have access to an external dvd drive or hdd.

4. The ultimate browsing experience on the iPad still does not include flash support and with the rampart use of flash on the internet these days, I am sure if we can call that an ultimate experience at all. With a net book on the other hand, regardless of the OS you use, you can get flash support.

5. I dare say if you can compare the number of iPhone games to the number of flash based games and other free/paid games (the lite ones of course) that can easily run on a Nettop and on the various operating systems it supports.

One thing I like about iPad, that it's a nice concept.
The products following it from different companies will be better. Apple always START. Others improve

Iphone...many full touch screen phones 5800, X1
Ipod...zune etc.

thats what they want you to believe that there were no tablet pcs before ipad :P
hp touchsmart was always there , you just didnot know

Not sure, what Apple was trying to do (or wants to prove) -- by not putting in the standard connectivity/compatibility features that most similar devices have.

And I find it really weird, that flash will not run on it. OK...have they come up with a better substitute and we can say Apple is "blazing the path". Not with the iPAD. Yes, they did create a lot of flutters with the iPhone and their iPod, but I feel their desktops/laptops/iPAD are just over priced, over hyped products.

They worst aspect is: they are totally locked products. You can only use apple accessories, and cannot change components your self. Am not comfortable with that at all. They are good products no doubt, but against my "grain".

ahem, MTNL provides micro sims ? Best of luck with that :hap2:

as of now only AT&T in US has that. Google..

Sure modders will make something like clone micro sims, etc to overcome that limitation, but it sucks, and the apple community is dependent on hackers/modders.

So it is basically a device for apple fanboys really

Oh well. Its not really your fault. There were people like you earlier who said the same for the iPhone and we all know where it is at the moment.

Don't you think that apple could have made the ipad a lot better by having basic things like multitasking, front camera, USB and SD card support all of which a supposed tablet should have. Fanboys will lap it up from apple instead of rejecting such a crippled device. Buying an iPad in India is even more pointless as 3G won't work.

I used to own an ipod touch and it was a brilliant device at what it was supposed to do , unlike this half arsed excuse for a tablet.

My friend said once that Apple doesn't really know what to do with its product when it introduces a revolutionary new technology ipod nikala, couldn't figure out what to do... made it smaller, made it thicker, made it super-small

OSX nikala, couldn't figure out... made it faster, made it lighter, made it jazzier

instead of further innovating in that technology, they just lose interest and do something else

Rest have more faith in 'Adam'

the device name is so stupid. every time i see an ad from those companies selling women's hygiene products on tv (like 10 times in 5 minutes), i remember this device and laugh (in my head of course). don't want anyone thinking i'm crazy or a perv.

Ofcourse, multi-tasking should have been there. And it will get in for sure (if not officially, then via unofficial means). USB for what ? You already get enough storage onboard and if its for an external keyboard, then that is covered too.
Yes, OOTB it is crippled. The iPad OS is unfinished yet. But it still has a lot of potential (wait for 4.0 ;) ) Also, with the $499 price-point, it makes it much more desirable, atleast to me.
Oh and btw, I am not interested in the 3G model. I can setup tethering on my iPhone and convert it into a WiFi router. After that if I ever want to use net on iPad on the move, I will connect to that WiFi router ;)

USB can be for printers, pen drives, USB modems, GPS etc there really is no limit to the amount of peripherals.
Speeds in India will be crap even using tethering.
Why don't you wait for the iPad OS 4.0 to be released, until then I'm sure your iPhone can do everything the iPad does AND make phone calls.

PS.. Going by your post Apple is now far removed from their ootb ' it just works' agenda

First you need to understand that this is NOT a laptop replacement.
I agree about speeds in India, but that is not Apple's fault, is it ? I will be buying a Wifi-only version iPad to surf net when I am home.
And ofcourse, people can wait till 4.0 if they want to. I, for one, will get one as soon as its available simply basing my decision on the assumption that first-gen iPads might be relatively easier to jailbreak (which is important IMO)

Btw, "it actually just works" for majority of the people out in the world. Just not for geeks like you and me. :)
