So it was a bad hardware right? Android offer much more customization as compared to any other OS, at the same time it offers stable stock ROM also.
Android hogs battery because it offers true multi tasking which others don't. But in ICS, you have an option to stop background processes completely too.
So basically it offers users what kind of option they like.

Trust me sir i love android more than you do. :p
I have nothing against any os out there. Its just that nowadays i am busy with my engineering and just need something which offers smooth and stable out of the box experience with great battery life, which windows phones have. Android rules in customization but that is exactly what i dont have time to do right now.

Many of those limitations are true for iOS as well. WP and iOS are not really smartphone OS, the devices based on theses are just feature/multimedia phones marketed under the guise of smartphones. So, as feature phones they are pretty good, but as smartphones, nowhere close.

Exactly, these OS on the pretext of better battery life dont allow multi tasking and background processing, so they are very similar to old age Nokia phones but with some good applications and better display UI.

Windows is still immature and hope it matures soon. Androids are best experienced on dual cores which are a bit expensive. And the reason ios has so many developers is because of the good money they get. What I love on windows phone is the fluid and absolutely lag free UI, multitasking is a breeze and yes importantly, I don't have to carry my charger anymore as it does suffice a normal work day of usage. I miss many things an Android offered me, but the price I paid for my focus and the goodies I am typing from, allows me to say it isn't such a bad choice after all. One among the best keyboards to type from and ie works like charm.

Please expand on the definition of a smartphone, I would love to be enlightened.

Mutual Admiration Society...

Are you seriously comparing age-old Nokia phones with iOS and WP? Please correct me if wrong, aren't both iOS and WP more similar to (your perfect "Smartphone OS") Android than they are to Symbian?

If you say No to this, you should really use Google first before blasting your mouth off.. Tell me if you need any help.

IMO iOS can be considered a smartphone. But after being an owner of a Windows Phone 7.5 for quite some time now, I would say it is either not a smartphone at all or a Smartphone in its Alpha or even Gamma stage, definitely not pre beta for sure :P

Multitasking in Windows Phone ?How? When?

Multitasking in Windows Phone ?How? When?

At a time you can multitask 5 apps on a windows phone, now that is all that i know about the os. May be you could multitask even more, may be depending upon the rom. Press and hold the back button and you have your open apps you can switch through.

Thats not multitasking, thats fast switching among apps. Apps are freezed and when you press and hold back button, they get activated again. A simple example to understand it, download some file using browser and before it completes, switch to some other app, you download will be stopped and you have to start over again.

Well I thought multitasking was doing several things at once. I have kept Nokia maps on download over WiFi, am playing ilomilo and opened the browser and typing this and playing ilomilo again and checking the download status. Weirdly I thought doing all this was multitasking!

Nokia maps on focus?

+1
I have SGS2 myself, but bought the Focus for someone and tried using it for few days, and i'm really impressed...its butter smooth, the user experience is so much better than what android can give. Also internet explorer on wp7.5 is a beast, its runs so damn well, I dare say it can easily outdo chrome beta on ICS in terms of smoothness. To think of it, Its really crazy and ridiculous at the same time, chrome on ICS is almost running on double hardware (top of the line dual core CPU, hardware acceleration via GPU, double RAM) yet IE on wp7 can match/beat it running on top of 3yr old hardware. Every one is crazy about hardware specs these days, but it doesn't give you anything except bragging rights, who needs a quad core phone when wp7 can perform just as well on 1/1.4ghz single core procc.
Also no one has mentioned it, GPS on wp7 phone is incredible it literally gets a lock in seconds even in insides...

If you have it dev unlocked (most first gen htc/samsung can be done free), you can get nokia apps like drive, which is full featured offline GPS nav software for free (compare that to online google nav on android). Other features of google maps can be accessed via internet explorer (like public transit and all) though I prefer nokia transit for this. Also if you are dev unlocked, you can have native Wi-Fi hotspot for internet sharing, share files via bluetooth, access other marketplaces or sideload apps from forums, file manager (called touchXplorer).

Don't let the list which is posted here deter you from trying wp7 phone. As someone said here, it more of list of compiled rants rather than serious shortcomings. True that Android is still more functional and open (like widgets, or easy ringtones, file transfer, etc) but it comes at a cost of user experience. You have to use wp7 for few days (like me) to realize that.

Appreciated, atleast you accepted, people generally dont ;)
They go down to any level to defend their purchase!

So after all these years of windows vs linux, now we are doing same for mobile platforms. we don't change do we. :P

Now so much talk about multi tasking; is it important for me? yes it is. BUT apparently masses do not think this way. As otherwise they must be buying a symbian with proper multitasking but they buy iphone. And between all this MS is bailing Nokia.

So very clearly its not a deal breaker for most; people are happy with a close eco system and if they do who are we to dictate otherwise. (I personally never understood brand bashing ever)

And OP, I would include a link to source 101 Reasons Not to Buy A Windows Phone 7.5 :: My-Symbian ~ My-Maemo ~ My-MeeGo Forum, not that it is copyrighted, but your handle is honest, isn't it ;)

Bro, I am running a custom rom, use Nokia drive, maps and HTC hub on my focus and can directly install xap apps on my phone. Gather some info bro. It serves good for knowledge base at least.

I know its possible :P
Just that i was unable to locate the xda thread with proper instructions. The links from other forums and yotube take me to a thread not found error on xda.

So according to you Windows 7.5 is best OS, ahead of Android and iOS?
Have you seen my first post where 101 reasons are mentioned? maybe few are not there but majority if issues are there.
I appreciated one member who accepted that its not a good OS but you have problem in that too...
Will you be happy when I say that Windows OS is best?:p

Have you read my post bro? I have mentioned that it is immature and also the reason why other os's have so many developers! Kindly read what is written. I use both defy and focus as my daily drivers and know the pros and cons on both the platforms. And those "reasons" mentioned was the case when android arrived in the early stages. Look at what it is now. Evolution requires trials and errors. I hope windows mobile, learns from these "reasons" and rectifies them asap.
