PC Peripherals 1000W Power Supply for Computer

I'm considering buying a high-end gaming computer with an integrated 1000W power supply unit. I live in an apartment building, and I'm concerned about blowing a fuse or possibly starting an electrical fire if it's too much power for my outlet. Is my concern justified? I don't know much about these things. I assume I should use a surge protector, but are there other concerns I should have, and what preventative measures should I take? Thank you very much for your time.

No, not justified. 1000w PSU doesnt mean that it will always be drawing that much power. Actual power consumption will depend on what other components in the rig and how they are loaded with work.

Ideally its better to calculate how much power your comp might consume and select a PSU with rigs power requirement in between 60-70% of its rated power. Again there is more into it on 'rated power'.

I think gaming and OC gurus can help you more if you can put in full specs of your gaming rig.

A high rated PSU doesnt mean it will draw all the power at its rated watts

for Eg: a 600W PSU with a efficiency of 80% and with a CPU requirement of say, 250W(all full load) - will take below power from the wall :

250*100/80 = 312.5 W

Your PC wont run at full load(only when gaming) always, so power consumption will be even lesser.

Power consumption from mains will increase with less effiency. Hence its always good to buy high efficiency PSUs

Hence if you are buying a moderate gaming rig with one graphics card, go for a Corsair TX650 or HX620 or CM600

SLI/CF -> TX 750

If its a non-gaming PC, a CM390W would be more than enough

a 1000W PSU is a big overkill, dont waste money here :)

PSU gurus, correct me if am wrong

Second part of Q:

Get a auto-stabilizer of 1KVA and connect between mains and PC, if your area has lot of voltage fluctuations

Also, you might want to check up on how much load your particular apartment is rated at y your electriity supply company :) always helps to know that ;) You exceed that and the fuse will blow :P It might be possible to add to the permissible load too, you might just have to apply/pay them for it :)
 
The HX620 can easily handle that; :)

Anyways get the TX750 considering u may go SLI in sometime; HX1000 if u can shell out the dough; :D

Check the 12V rails and its amperes...i dont know about this silverstone brand

But a 1000W can easily handle your rig....but power consumption will be higher for this beefed up system
