Again, 1 inch won't create a huge difference when it comes to portability..... I think u should look at 13 inch & 14 inch laptops putting them side by side....
Though the 1 inch doesn't make any difference to portability, it'll surely make a difference to ur user experience especially when using fullscreen applications.
