So what do you guys suggest, am thinking of upgrading memory as it is. One of the people I know might come down from US, so which one should I order (link if possible :) )

BTW system is an AMD X2 4000+, and a Jetway 690G mobo.

its 45$ arnd ...so should be 2.4~2.5k max :P

But for a 690G , u can get vanilla Transcend DDR2 800 2 X 2GB for around 1950 all incl :)

Hmm, even I was inclined towards PI black, I guess I will pay a lil bit extra for the tighter timings :)

Thanks folks

If i purchase memory sticks or other hardware material from US, will it continue to be in guarantee in India.

^ Still 3GB (out of 2x 2GB) in dual channel surely feels faster than 2x1GB in dual channel. :P

Aces- get locally available Transcend 2x2GB for 2K odd and run at CL4. :)
I think that's possible and a fairly cheap yet reliable option. :)

^^No ! The ram won't do CL4 @ 800Mhz [400 effective] . You have lower Dram:FSB ratio to 1:1 ; thus significantly reducing the speed to 400Mhz [200Mhz effective] .. Running ram @ 400 Mhz doesn't make sense. Haven't tried @ 2.0V but I don't think that PSC can take CL4 even @ 2.0V..

Beware Aces you can cook AMD processor IMC on too high V on ram :P

Better get the Gskill kit Udit ordered .. should set you back by 3.5k its 1066mz and I believe AM2 should support with BIOS update or ootb :)
