they are no spiders...

they are real people reading the tut about how to read books via google ;)

anyway we have smashed the max users online record on te btw ;) by a long margin :P

Wow ! 700 members online at a time out of the total 1k odd, thats more than half !!!

Great work TE keep it up !!!

:D :D :D

Why dont we make the TE exclusive threads visible only to registered members??
This will rake in more and more users :D.

DC.

not a bad idea but max members com thru google search , and if we block access to guests , google spiders wont be adding this pages in search pool.

OK, how about making it all visible to spiders, but not to ordinary guests? They get say 50% and the rest after signing in? (The 50% is flexible - enuf to hook them, but not enuf for them to leave off). Then they can see the rest immediately on siging up, even without doing that confirmation procedure.

Well actually its a bad idea.

If the guest has to register just to read a thread...
1]. He will register, read and leave for good. member base increases but not the active member base.
2]. Chances are he will not have high regards for the forums which make him register just for a piece of info he needs. Well I hate forums which make me register.

On the contrary if he like the forum and the info here he will anyway register and chances are that he would contribute to the community.

The idea by kingkrool is better but then again what will hook him will anyway hook him whether he has to register or not.

The reason I say register,is that even if I read an interesting article on the net, I rarely remember where I read it (if the iste was unknown to me previously). If, on the other hand, there is a confirmation required email in his inbox, he might come back and become an active member. Besides, if he does not post say 5 times in the first month, then his membership can be deleted.

Well i totally agree with quickfire , one shudnt be forced to register for some piece of information , if he/she wants some specific information then they would register which makes sense and which is the prevailing system . Its highly irritating to register just to read some info .
