A: Touchscreen

A: 8MP primary camera with flash preferred, but can settle for a 5MP with flash as well. Cam quality needs to be decent. I guess all phones in this budget come with a good secondary cam.

7. Q: Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc).

A: Android (Preferably ICS out of the box, or at least upgradable to ICS). Not gonna root or install any custom ROMs on this phone.

8. Q: Preferred connectivity options? (3G, Wifi, Edge etc).

A: WiFi + 3G

9. Q: What is your intended use for this phone(internet, camera, multimedia, mails, etc)?

A: Camera, gaming, multimedia (earphone music & videos), internet browsing.

A: Don't require dual SIM.

A: None. Please suggest some.

This phone is going to be for a gal. So, looks do matter a lot. Please advise as to which phone I should opt for. Should I wait for a month? Are any better VFM launches expected in a month or so?

I think you should wait for the Sony to release rest of Xperia lineup and get her Xperia U with pink bottom plate.

Xperia U has 4 GB memory (user accessible) , better wait for xperia P.

Highly doubt it. One S will be above 25k to 28k IMO. It will be right between One V and One X.

Why doesn't it get mentioned more often ?

It was available for as low as 20k with coupons from ebay even a month back. It doesn't get mentioned often because its not very popular, has a small user base, ICS update scheduled very late and has very less developer support. It's a good phone otherwise.
