im still pushing the distributor for a decent price.......the 2233sw is available for 9.9k! street price.......last quote i got for the T220 was for 10.4k.......only reason why i'm holiding on for a final verdict is if i really need a 22" for my needs.......although i can buy the 22" and even the 24" :) .......the price difference between the 19" and the 22" is a good 3k......im just postponing till i get an ultimatum to go for the kill ;)

I had not seen so many sad faces in one single post man....

And there is no need of crying. That was a hoax call...Even the shop waala didn't answer back ever again...That price is impossible...

Like when i went to S.P. Road once and the shopkeeper told Benq E2200HD for 9.5k...I was awestruck and i told him to get one immediately but he got the T2200HD and said, sarry sir...:bleh:

U got a good monitor...Be happy...:)

I called samsung custumer care, they said T220 is for 13.5K...

but i think it will go down to 10K soon... as T220HD is coming...

Dude first of all decide amount u want to spend on ur monitor...

COMPARE THE MONITORS ..
1.Dimensions
2. Pixel patch ( It should be less )
3.Dynamic contrast Ratio...
what other facilities r there in the monitor regarding ur use.....

T220 is of good choice with 20000:1 contrast ratio.
257mm pixel patch
60hz refresh rate

Also Look for...
DELL SP2309w
with 245mm pixel patch and 80000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
2MP webcam
AND IT IS FULL HD with HDMI port.....

I was lurking at this thread for some time but your post finally drew me in (lazy me) :P.

IMO only first one is of somewhat importance. Dimensions matter but if the difference is less than 22" inch I will look more closely at Panel type and go with better panel.

Less pixel pitch is good only if matched by corresponding increase in screen size. On a 17" monitor, even pixel pitch from 1440X900 resolution is enough to give you headache while surfing internet and working with office documents. Unless, of course, you use zoom/increased DPI.

Dynamic contrast is one of the most useless marketing junk ever sold to consumers. When I bought T220, the first thing that I did was to switch off dynamic contrast. With Dynamic contrast on, you can't work with documents. High figures like 20000:1 or 50000:1 doesn't mean a dime when it comes to monitor contrast. Dynamic contrast is pure marketing bullsh*t.

Right now in market, for an average home/office rig I will not look beyond Dell's 2209WA if I have a budget of 15 to 16K for monitor. It lacks bells and whistles like HDMI or HD resolution but it is a 16:10 monitor and hence has slightly more screen space than 22" monitors with 16:9 HD resolution.

But importantly, it has eIPS panel that means better colours, blacks and good viewing angles. On any day, over any TN monitor I will prefer 2209WA.

If HD resolution is must, I would suggest get Benq's T2200. That is quite VMF at its price point.

Could you suggest LCD monitors in 19 and 22 inch with DVI input for surfing internet and working with office documents without getting too much eyestrain and headache since i work for long hours.

I do not game or overclock. Movies only occassionally. Computer system exclusively to be used for online stock market trading involving 2 D applications and surfing internet. Some of these applications require more processor and memory power. A dual core or core 2 duo can handle all my requirements comfortably.

I also have three other older celeron based systems for my office and surfing needs.

The new sysytem config i plan to buy is

Proceessor - Intel Dual Core 2.5 GHz E5200 / or E-7400

M/B - Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L or Asus P5KPL-CM (No DVI output)

Memory- Transcend Ram 2x2gb (800MHZ)- Total 4 GB

I would like to go for 4 Gb since i plan to install windows 7 -64 bit as and when it is released. Currently using Windows XP Pro SP3. Is Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L or Asus P5KPL-CM Ok or do i need to get a better one .

Hard disk - WD 250 GB

Cabinet -Zebronics Bijli without SMPS

Two items i am unable to decide are on PSU and Graphics card. Since i do not game or overclock do i really need a graphics card for using a 19 or 22 inch monitor. Will the on board IGP run the higher resolutions of 1920*1080 of a 22 inch.

Another problem is that the GA-G31M-ES2L does not have DVI output. Or is it better to use any low profile and low powered graphics card rather than relying on IGP. If so which Graphics card would you suggest. Budget for graphics card is 4000 Rs.

PSU i am thinking of buying VIP silver 500W/ Powersafe silver or CM 460W but then this depend upon whether i need a graphics card. Budget Rs 3500/-

My budget for monitor is maximum 12,000 RS . Monitors i had zeroed in are

BenQ T2200HD
Dell E 1909W
BenQ-900 HD(18.5 inch) uses only 30 watts
BenQ-920 HD(18.5 inch) uses only 23 watts

Opting for 19 or 22 inch solely for the reason to get more screen space for working with 2-3 applicatons opened simultaneously and for better resolutions. Do i really need a HD monitor for my usage?

All i require in a monitor is where i can work for long hours without any eyestrain or head ache and with good screen space for running multiple applications simultaneously with good colour , text and picture clarity.

I need the system to run for 10 or more hours continously daily. The rented room space i am using has pretty hot temperature and humid . So i am looking for a cabinet with good cooling features. Will it be sufficent if i install 2 120mm fans in front and back of the cabinet. I am also looking for a system config which uses less electricity.

If the above config are overkill for my purpose kindly suggest alternatives .

IF AMD has better config with IGP and VFM that will meet my usage rquirements kindly advise.( Say X2 7750 BE +GA MA78 GM-S2HP or Biostar TA 790 GX 128 M with DVI output and more memory slots is better by saving on GPU)
