Monitors 27-inch monitor suggestions

Pimpom

Forerunner
I haven't bought a new monitor over the past several years and the market as well as user expectations are always changing. I now have to decide on a 27-inch FHD monitor for a close friend who's always depended on me for his hardware requirements.

The primary use of the monitor will be for video editing and MS Flight Simulator - two use cases where I have almost no personal experience. Budget is not fixed but he's not aiming for a high-end model. The cheaper the better but quality should be reasonable.

Any suggestions?

Why get 27” FHD? I would recommend 27” QHD. I have a 27” FHD which I got as a replacement for my G24F and it’s pretty bad for my usecase.

Go with 27” FHD only if viewing distance is more than 3 feet.

Also consider if speaker and hub are needed, though they can always be purchased separately and attached externally.

27" 1440p IPS 180Hz - Acer XV272U V3 (seems to have replaced the older XV272U KV)

27" 4k IPS Mini Led 160Hz - Acer XV275K P3

45k

I'll suggest avoiding FHD/1080p at 27 inch.
1080p looks good upto 24 inch.
1440p - 27 inch
4k - 32 inch and above

As suggested earlier, buy Acer XV272U V3, more than enough for most gamers. I'd say only OLED or good mini LED monitors will have a noticeable improvement over this one (it is as good as my Asus TUF 27" 1440p 170Hz that I purchased for 30k or so almost 3 years back, checked it at a friend's place).

For 1080p, stick to Acer VG240Y 24" 1080p 180Hz (I have its older 165Hz variant which is 4.5 years old, now is my secondary monitor).

27" 1080p looks bad, have those in my office. This is the reason I didn't apply for a monitor at office.
