Hi guys. I need an external casing for Seagate 120GB PATA Hard Drive because it keeps disappearing as an internal drive.

Does anyone have any good suggestions. Read a review on Techtree that the Techcom one is pretty good. Anyone have any experience with it or Advik, Frontech and the numerous others? My budget is 500-600 because I dont need very fast speeds. Just a reliable casing to access my movies backup once in a while.

Also all the deals on Ebay and other sites dont mention whether the casing is SATA or PATA. Do most casings support both? A link to a good online deal would be nice.

Most of the generic cheap casings are ok. They are all chinese casings. Some people prefer Zippy. I like the silver aluminum look of the Advik so I bought one. It's pretty ok. The USB cable is very short though.

I think you will be relatively safe with brands like Gemini, Zippy and Advik. The models keep changing however. Evaluate the build quality by visually inspecting it before you purchase. Also, make sure that the power adapter and cable supplied actually fit onto the casing. Many times, they don't match.

There are casings that support both but are not as popular as PATA ones. And PATA casings are cheaper compared to the ones that support both! I think you should opt for "Tag" casings which should cost something around 500!
