Hey guys,

Im new to this LCD world, so dosent have much idea about this LCD TVs, so i m going to ask some questions plz answer my queries :)

My budget is around 30k

I have visited some showrooms here in Kolkata, the price of Panasonic & LG is moving around 24k to 28k (with diff models) & Samsung & Sony being on the higher as expected like starting from 30k to 38k (with diff models) ... this are all HD Ready models

Now my question is -

1. Should i pay like 6k-7k more with Sony or Samsung ? is it that much worth or i save some bucks with Panasonic ?

2. and should i go for HD Ready or Full HD which will again cost me like 6k more from a HD Ready one, how much is the diff in visual quality ?

3. Also tell me which brand has the best after sales service.

I have normal cable connection for now ..but i will pair my new LCD with airtel or tata sky HD

4. If i am correct HD Ready means 720p & Full HD means 1080p (plz correct me if im wrong), so will the new HD connection from Airtel or Tatasky display 720p or 1080p ?

Will mainly use my LCD for tv programs & Watching movies (Not 1080p though)

1. I'd say shell out more and get sony/samsung.

2. if you are going to use your tv a a monitor for your computer get 1080p(full hd) else 720p(hd ready) will suffice.

3. ASS differs from place to place, I got a sony and their service has been pretty good.

4. tata sky will come in 1080i (not sure), 720p looks better than 1080i and you will not be able to see the difference between 720/1080 on a 32" anyway..

Go for Samsung.I am using it and I have no problems as of now.Shell out more.

IF you have any known people in Singapore or Bangkok then you would get it at half price of here.May be you can yourself go and buy at singapore (I know that sounds horrible) but it might be worth it as the flight ticket would cost hardly 10k around. I got it for 15.5 K at Mustafa in Singapore.

HD ready in actual meaning TV doesnt have a HD tuner, but can recieve input HD signals .In absoulute,FULL HD tv may be HD Ready..but no one using this nomenclature right now

They are using HD ready for 720p and for 1080p Full HD

If you are keeping your tv for few years from now,its best option to go for full HD tv blindfolded as you may regret in future

if you dont watch movies 1080p,there is no point in going for full HD tv..but future is for BLURAY home video

Many people say that there is no diiference between 720p and 1080p in 32".,what i feel in personal experience, you could see the difference, i did find difference in watching few hollywood movie blu ray rips

Better option is to have sony or samsung which have better hardware for upscaling of SD content

How did you get it to India? Must be a a big package...

Sorry Ankurshah, i didnt saw ur post when i posted my reply as it was mere 2 mins diff, may be i didnt refreshed the page at that time, but going to Singapore & then buying, it has many problems like may be some warranty problems & it will look ridicilous that im going Singapore for buying a TV :P

Anyway that is not a option for me, but yea for Samsung i must say the DTH service on it looking much more sharp than even a Sony LCD in showrooms but when it comes to HD videos like 720 p or 1080 p i dont know which of the format they running, Sony has a upperhand their ...this on HD ready LCDs

I have shortlisted some according to my budget Sony BX300 (HD Ready) 31900, Panasonic S series (FULL HD) 30900, Panasonic TH-L32X10D (HD Ready) 28500, Panasonic TH-L32X9D (HD Ready) 27500 also checked some Samsung ones didnt remember the model numbers but it was starting from 33,900 (HD Ready) which is kinda crossing my budget. Plz suggest any models close to 30k for samsung if their is anything available.

That Sony BX300 impressed me a lot, i think it even crossing that Full Hd model of Panasonic in visual quality now im in quite a dilema for which to go for ... in one hand im getting FULL HD on same price of a HD Ready & on other hand Sony's visual quality

Plz help me out guys ....

@Prasanth11

what is SD content ???

Am in the same dilemma.....I saw 2 verisons of the sony with identical displays and about 1.5-2k difference in price. I think the more expensive one had 2 extra hdmi ports, but thats about it.

^Are you talking of the difference between the BX and the EX? There *is* quite a difference between the 2 panels if you were to watch closely. Although Sony advertises the BX as having the BE3, and so does the EX panel, what sets them apart is the panel quality used on both the LCDs. The SPVA panel used onboard the EX is vastly different in terms of quality compared to the BX.

There you go, was wondering why there is a price difference....would you guys prefer the EX series or the pana S series, which is full HD??

Sony EX or the Samsung LA32B530/B550/C530/C550. Can't go wrong with either of the these models.

@Deb0.Yaa That's fine.Do you have any realtives there? It would be really worth. But there is no international warranty.

@Otaku: Yeah I came from Singapore to Malaysia and then to Trichy and then to my home in CBE.

It was almost like this.

@Desecrator : what is the price of Sony EX series ur talking abt or even those Samsung models ?

@ankurshah : nope i dont, i wish i hv someone their ... but my uncle lives in Canada but it ll be a double price their may be :P

anyway guys just give me your final words ...Sony BX300 or that Panasonic S series Full HD model ??????

in one hand Sony's visual quality & it has 2 USB slots with 2 HDMI slots & on other hand Panasonic is Full HD with no USB slot but with 2 HDMI slots & it has 3 Year warranty in comparison to Sony's 1 Year warranty

thx guys... for all ur replies ....

Got myself a 32" fullHD lcd tv last monday.
went thinking i wud get either a SONY or a Panasonic but in the end got LG.
Reason why i got the LG :
1> Picture quality was more or less the same amongst all the brans.
2> getting a IPS pannel.
3> Optical out (this was the deciding factor)

Model is 32LD460

How much did it cost....and whats the main use of optical out?

Anyway the pana has an IPS Panel as well.

^To output digital audio to receivers which can accept them. Kinda moot point if you ask me since most DTH receivers or media players or any source would have an optical or an spdif output. And if you decide to stream your audio through the optical output (with the sole input to the TV being HDMI), it ends up being 2 channel. So it's pointless.
