This seems to be the best lapptop under your budget. I'm not sure about the Kolkata pricing though.

Dell inspiron 15 series is very good in that range..

Also lookout for HP laptops if available in that range...

@aman.pitbull thanks for the detailed specs

i guess the lenovo scores with the discrete graphics but dell (integ. gfx) is giving a better proccy at that price point so confused which to choose

@delguy19 @sickizblank @rahulrulez @techie_007 thanks mates

so 4 votes for dell inspiron 15

was checking them out on Dell Site the basic version with T4200 proccy 160 gb hdd 2gb ram is at 32k before taxes and the one with T6400 , 250 gb hdd, 2gb ram is 34k before taxes

also both with vista home basic

PS: about 2k gets the vista home premium IS IT WORTH THE EXTRA 2K?

@bitsandpieces

thanks for the kolkata info

will check there

Well if you get a dell at that price better go for it as the difference in terms of build quality is a lot. DELL Inspiron 15 has a really good ASS too. Dell will last a lot longer and will give better battery life too.

The Lappy is meant for a 4th year Btech Student so do you actually need an OG OS?

HP also has similar or better quality as compared to Inspiron but stay away from HP for the time being as I've noticed the laptops getting really hot(cannot keep them on ur lap). I've tested a lot of HP models but the problems seems to be with everyone, I wonder if its a really efficient cooling design meant to take max heat out or something else.

well imo, dell doesnt have that gud build quality as it used to have.

i have inspiron 1525 myself and am really unhappy about its build quality as compared to hp or lenovo laptops i have seen with my frnds

oh insprion is one of the most stable dell laptop i ever seen i am using dell from last 7 yrs and all working good till now for me from latitude to studio just xps was crap due to vent issue.

if u dont have money issues go for home premium.
