If it failed to read the media off the USB disk, you can very well complain to the dealer/Samsung authorised service center since the documentation does list .mkv as one of the video formats supported.

4) Avi playback for normal tv 350mb episodes was flawless

Dunno wat to infer from the mkv playback..They dont have detailed info on whats supported and whats not.. :@

And the sales man were irritating with crap like "Saar mkv not supported saar.."

And when it started playing, "bahut achha model hai saar, bola tha na.."

And then the best crap:- "sir touch the screen saar, see Samsung pe touch karo to kya hota hai? Ye dekho Lg ka panel kitna strong hai *knocks the panel*..." :doh:

Well i don't know if the sticker is their outside the box ,if it is one can know before hand.
A few years ago they used to sell samsung lcds in grey market,so one could get to check the actual tv that they are taking home,but in showroom once they break the seal or open the box ,you have to buy it.

According to test by a review site of the samsung C630 ,the AMVA had a contrast about 1900:1 where as the SPVA had a contrast of 4000+:1.colors where also not perfect in AMVA with a delta of 3.2 vs 2.2 for SPVA.

Off course one will only come to know this if one does a side by side comparison,but knowing that you got something inferior hurts:(
 
^Totally man! I am kinda scared now. I think I'll ask the guy to show me a box of any of those LCDs so we might come to know if the sticker shows the panel type at all.

I am kinda worried but I believe one of the members here who has the 40C550 said it is a SPVA panel. I am planning to visit the outlet by this month-end, pay them an advance and book a 40C550 so I can get it delivered by Diwali next month.

Refer the manual's link I have provided in the previous page - it lists all the formats supported with the containers and the AV codecs. If it doesn't play you can ask the service engg. to upgrade the firmware which should ideally fix the issue.

The previous Saturday, me and medpal had gone to demo a few panels. We saw almost every panel we wanted to and took a demo of some of them as well. The C630 is what we set our eyes upon. Played the Avatar blu ray 1080p .mkv file flawlessly and even seeking went without a fuss! We were literally drooling at the PQ of the panel! Played the Shutter Island 720p .mkv file as well - not much issues here either. The PQ was very good and one could say the difference between the 720p and 1080p resolution here. The 700MB .avi Jeff Dunham's Christmas Special DVD rip played without issues although the PQ was just okay'ish.

We have both of our eyes set on this panel although the doc is also inclined towards the EX500 as well. Now the worst part is pricing! At the Vijay Sales outlet here in Surat, we were offered a pricing of 60k for the C630 and 65k (IIRC) for the C650. I think if we were to go for a smaller outlet we can get better pricing and haggle a bit as well. :)

The sad thing is Samsung's lottery policy - it is not guaranteed that we may get a confirmed SPVA panel although the one we saw on display was a SPVA panel.
 
from a friend of a friend of a friend. (you see; friends are awesome) I can even get very good quotes for LG too. but I think I am set out on samsung. The problem is that mom wants the tv after amavasya(new moon). So I have to wait. :(

Hey! thanks for the review. I was a little inclined towards the LG as it was giving me 2 more inches but I am set out on samsung now.

TMC in hyderabad quoted 58500 for C630 if I paid cash. I think you should be able to convince him for that quote. and is there any way I can verify if the panel is SVPA? if there is such method. I will ask my friend to ship me the tv with svpa panel. please let me know.

^I am at my workplace - can't see that image. It's just a sticker stuck on the right side of the panel when viewed from the front. :)

Oh and just in case, CMO - Chi Mei Optoelectronics and AUO - AU Optronics. :P
 
WTF they show the version number on the box itself? :O

That lamer at Vijay Sales told us he couldn't see any such sticker on the box! Nice. Thanks for the input booooooooooo. :D

Checked around 5 Samsung showrooms and everyone have the LA32C630 and LA32C650 in either version AAxx or CNxx. None of the showroom has a SQxx version LCD apart from in 5 series. Quote which I got for LA32C630 is 43k and LA32C650 is 48k. What if we only get the AAxx or CNxx version LCDs, how bad is it and what would be the difference?
