Updates are brand specific. Been on 9, my tv got android OS update only twice the last one been in Nov 2021. While rest google and app related stuff keeps getting upgraded.
Go for VU or Hisense! I'm having Hisense while I was desperately looking for VU for 6+ months but those great models faded away from the market and Hisense launched by that time in India so after researching went for it.

50 willbe too big for 6ft viewing distance. 40 is optimum for my use.
