@Jambumali im also looking for one display and my budget is 80K. Went to croma and checked Sammy 46F5100 for 72900/- an Sony KDL 42W650 for 62900/-. Viewing distance is abt 14 feet. We have a FHD 40 inch Sony at the moment and looking for an upgrade in terms if size, PQ. Main usage would be regular tv viewing and movies. Would u suggest any other models other than the two i mentoned?
Im not interested in Plasma since there is a window 10X5 feet right opposite to it. Pl suggest.

You would not perceive much difference between 42" & 40". S0, no point in going for that. At your viewing distance, minor pixellation also would not be very obvious, unless you get a 55-60 inchers - these (LED)would be beyond your budget. To get a better understanding: See this & This.

You can go for the 46" Sammy you mentioned. I'm not sure, but probably you may get the Sony 46" also at your budget. The Sony 650 is a much defintely superior model to the Sammy Series5.

Reg reliable eBay dealers: check out their "reputation" score. Check the recent sales they made, esp. TV's and the feedback of the buyers.

Sony KLV-46EX430..price around 74K
Samsung 46F5100...68K

can you suggest best of the lot in order of vfm coz im not a stickler when it comes to PQ. Should i listen to heart( suggesting EX650) or pocket(suggesting 46F5100)

I would suggest you to get a Sony 46W700 it has improved algorithm for upscaling and also get the X-reality Pro processing which earlier was only reserved to the flagship models. The motionflow in this is also better then the one in EX650 series .

This also being a 2013 model plays all formats via USB including MKV and also supports NTFS partioned HDD which none of the 2012 models do(except el-cheapo ones).

discard the Samsung F5100.

If you are not a stickler for PQ: Sony EX430, else Sony EX650. Pl. note that the EX650 is last year's top 2D model. Since the W650 etc have been launched this year, the prices of the 2012 models would come down significantly.
--------------
Never worry about playback ability of diff formats by the TV. Any media player (5k max) would play all that you can throw at it. Buy the largest screen with the best PQ you can afford.

The MRP is just 1k more then the 46EX650 ,typical of Sony you can expect around 5% off MRP.

But best place to buy Sony are in grey market while i don't know the pricing it should be priced around 72 to 75k in grey market.

The w650 uses a IPS panel mostly so the contrast won't be as high as the EX series or the W700.

The Sony 42" W650A looks awesome :D But sadly costs 62,900 everywhere. They claim this can now play mkv and supports more formats than 2012 model.
The new LG 42LS5710 has wifi built in. It costs ~57k from adhiswar (best quote) and ~58.5k from LG store. LG store offers a free universal remote and a wireless headset free. You can even connect a regular or wireless keyboard to this TV in order to type text while browsing.
The Panny model is out of stock at most places and costs 53k now. The newer 2013 model is expected in few days and is expected to cost around 58k.
The samsung new 40" model costs ~58kish.

Leaning towards the LG model now.

@DarkAngel not sure where ur from but in hyderabad as far as i have surveyed Bajaj Electronics gives the best price...and quote that price in other stores and the are trying to match or beat that price. Happy hunting.

The unit was delivered and the sony store guy called immediately and sending personnel for installation.
