Wrong. U can have 2 non-identical cards running at different speeds. What u're referring to is perhaps the first-gen CF.

But there's not a significant difference when the 4870 is paired with a 4850. Yields a bit more frames than when the 4850s're CF'ed.

No. The 4850X2 could be ideally a better choice due to bad driver support for CF'ed cards.

yes for first also , games like GTA 4 and crysis use over 800mb VRAM at max settings even at 1680x1050 , in 512mb crossfire , only 512mb will be available to games which will bottleneck at higher resolution .

just one more question..
if 2 4850 512 mb's are crossfired it detects only 512 right???
so is it impossible to cf a 1gb and a 512 mb one..
if not what memory will it detect???
and where does the unused memory go??

yeah get GTX 260 216 ....dual setup is annoying no. of times in terms of driver issue , game optimization,etc....single powerful card is the way to go no hiccups not even in thoughts....
