Yeah, Me too just got this in e-mail. 12.5k + 4% tax = 13k, Now that is roughly 2k more than KMD's rates.

Going by that, HD4870 @ $300 would roughly translate to 19~20k in India or maybe even more if the stocks are kept limited due to use of DDR5 memory. Currently it seems AMD is the only buyer for DDR5 memory and they are being manufactured specifically for AMD.

Anyway, I have already asked KMD to get me 2 x Asus HD4850. :ohyeah:

Errr...Meenal quoted me 11.5k+tax

Can anyone call Prime and confirm again?

Even aditya infotech is telling abt same price. May be prime got too many calls after their mail and jacked up the price

^^2 4850s already....
i thought u were doing single card now and CF later :O

Nah..I could not live on a single HD4850. :hap5: I had about 60k to spare for my upgrades. I had already ordered a Corsair HX1000 anticipating a HD4870 Crossfire setup and I will be picking up 2 x 640GB WDC HDD since my current HDD are all filled up.

So the GPU choice for me boiled down to HD4870 CF, HD4850CF and a single HD4870. I could not see a hugh improvement with HD4870 CF over HD4850 CF @ 1680 x 1050 and 1920 x 1200 due to CPU limitation and so the $600 price is not justified, but there was a great improvement with HD4850CF over a single HD4870 with full AA and AF enabled at high resolutions. Since that is the way I like to play the games, I am going for it. I will also probably get a new X38/X48 mobo since the 48xx cards are proved to be bandwidth limited for high resolution gaming on motherboards with PCIe 1.1 spec slots.

Rs13K is going to be the killer price.. I hope its from Sapphire, wch is slightly economical than Gecube..:D:

Awesome! Do the Asus 4850 cards have better cooling? What are the damages like for the HX1000? X48 board should be in the 12-15k range i guess, 60k well spent :) , wish i had that kind of surplus cash to splurge right now :P

I am thinking of becoming your next-door neighbour. :D
Not only can i be friends with you and use your l33t gaming rig, i heard one can find unused hardware lying at the front door along with the daily trash. :ohyeah:

Just checked my mailbox- 'Sapphire 4850 coming in 2 days' mail from Prime.
Plus the call from my friend who just came back from Lammy- 12.5K+4% it is. :)

i am also thinking of getting a 4850, but shouldn't we wait for better coolers on these things? what about temps? also the price will settle in 2 weeks to around 170$ i believe

These Asus cards have the same sort of single slot cooler, but they are provided with a tool called smart doctor though which the fan speed can be controlled. I have read reports that with fan speed set to 60%, the load temps are not crossing 65 deg which in my opinion is pretty good . This tool works with Asus cards only, so modders have already made available a BIOS dump of this card to be flashed on to 4850 cards of other brands so that this tool can be used to control the fan on those cards too.

As for HX1000, its costing me 13.7k inclusive of taxes.

Just got some internal info on GeCube from Tirupati

This is the Model No. HD485PG3-E3 512MB DDR3

Also they said that the price would be very attractive

Also 4870 GDDR5 will be available with this!!

All those who are ub3r hopeful of prices- don't forget how demand pushes prices upwards from originally estimated ones. :cool2:

Lots of peeps looking forward to 4850CF, esp in US and SG- i foresee a repeat of the 3850 CF and 8800GT SLI saga. :P

I m very confused, U guys have lots of money. Ma components crying for new house. and I can invest only 4k + have 8800GT which I can sell. BTW U will be surprised I m still on CRT, and upgrade may not be worthy for me, but dunno why I was waiting for this moment, ATI to smoke nVidia.
