Hello, im planning to buy a new gpu either 4850 or 9800gtx+ , so which 1 shall i buy? price is not a problem, all i need is performance, so please advice.

and yea if money is not a problem then get GTX 260 FTW , 30 % more performance than 4850 / 9800 and consumes less power than 4850 and runs cool .

lookall the tests ive seen GTX+ wins clearly so if want performace blindly go for GTX+.ok yes paying 1-2k more for gtx+ and not that much performance boost but he said money is not a issue and in performance gtx+wins

why not HD4870(mayb X2) or GTX 280 if price realy isnt an issue?

Its a MSI 4850 with a custom cooler (I hv a 8800GT with a similar cooler & it keeps my card really cool).. You can forget about the heating issues with this one..

That MSI will be perfect purchase. You will not only get good overall card, but you will also get better IQ, specially better AA quality.

9800GTX+ is only for those who dont wanna go for ATI for some virtual reason. With the custom cooler even heat factor is eliminated now.

If you want something better, PM KMD. He has some great deals on GTX 260 for under 15k ( do check with him if the quote is still valid. ). Same might be case for HD4870.

4850 and 9800GTX+ performance wise almost same... but performance not depends on ONLY GPU, some other factors are also concerned. For both the card whichever is faster u can't actually distinguish in Real world apps.

now as other TE members suggested 4850 is truely obvious for better IQ, better AA handling than GTX/GTX+...

so +1 for 4850
