Graphic Cards 4890 or gtx 275

^4890 1GB DDR5 can give upto 153GB/s at 1200Mhz OC, which is pretty much unbeatable. The new 5XXX series stock memory bandwidth is ~150GB/s
4890 power consuption at load is much lower than that of 275, check Anandtech.
 
I stick by my original assertion that except for Sapphire Toxic Vapor-X edition of 4890, GTX 275 is better. Bought it myself, but only becaue I could not find Sapphire Toxic Vapor-X edition in India.
This is after more than 60 hours of online research on just this one topic.

supercool gddr5 in which world you are......even though it is fastest memory it is very notorious for high power consumption

See...little knowledge is very dangerous....

GDDR5 consumes lesser power(much lesser) than GDDR3

It's like GDDR5<GDDR4<GDDR3.... first learn facts, then speak.
 
hmmm.. GTX275 seems like a good option... but then again as others suggested if u can wait.. just wait for the ATI5xxx cards.. reading all the previews an all it seems to rip even the 295 to shreds :p but then its totally ur choise dude.. for me ill be making a jump from NV8800GT to ATi5xxx crds.. tht wud be awsome..
 
just wait for HD5870 if you have a big budget, else grab a HD5850 at launch. (DX11 and 40nm is worth waiting)

Incase you dont want to wait, then GTX 275 is the obvious choice. Performs equivalent to HD4890 but PhysX is a huge advantage!
 
^^Don compare the card . See the scaling that GTX offers when used with Phneom II> both cards have their ups and down. But the FPS gain with GTX and Phneom II platform cant be overlooked.

Add to that all the graphics card review that you are considering are done using Corei7 or QX9770 so I will say get the GTX due to high polarity towards the phenom II which you have ;)
 
Actually everything boils down to the games you like to play. If Mirror's Edge or Crysis attract you a lot. then GTX 275 is your call as the make the best use of PsyX engine of nvidia. If sheer processing abilities are needed then HD4890 is you choice , this card really shines in Fallout3.
 
The 4890 is a true DX10.1 card and with superior support for ATI Stream technology for GPGPU applications and GDDR5 memory and lower heat dissipation, Unlike CUDA which is a proprietary technology, Stream is open source and developers can be fearless of royalties. So, I foresee more applications for stream than CUDA. So, I’d go for the 4890.
