That is exactly what I meant. I get that companies have different policies for different regions, and Seagate specifically has a much easier policy to identify, i.e. they have different model number endings(100 for US-Canada and 300 for Asia-Pacific). Unfortunately, usually we get worse deals compared to the west, but in this case it seems the other way round.

You would offer more warranty duration for a better quality/QC'd product with lesser chance of failure.

It is not the case. Warranty and product quality are unrelated. Warranty is purely based on market dynamics and cost of replacement etc.
