No Idea locally, I ahve not inquired even, I saw some seagate and WD for about that much....better to get 3tb for now I believe.

And also the risk of damaging the drive if it comes by courier as cargo goods are handled very very badly. If someone is carrying it for you it cane be safe with good packing and kept between bunch of clothes. And yeah, mostly wont need to pay any duty :)

......how does it come to 9996/-?

I just checked ...yes you are correct, I was getting more for 100$ before...it seems fine now.
Thanks for the update, think I will order some for me :)

Will the warranty be applicable in India too? Also, this listing shows 2 year limited warranty, if you check on Flipkart all Seagate external HDDs have 3-yr warranty.

Flpkart prices are around 13k, whereas the price earlier on amazon worked out to 9k, I guess I all be happy paying 9k for 2 yr warranty

You will get 2 yrs warranty in India.
That is strange ain't it? Just checked the US and Indian site of seagate, and all external HDDs have 2 and 3 years warranty in US and India respectively.

Does this mean they are selling better quality/lower MTBF drives in India as opposed to US? :wideyed: Mind=Blown.

Seagate externals have 3 yeas of warranty. I can confirm that as owner of some of those HDDs..

Each region has different policies with respect to warranty, and its the same for most manufacturers not just Seagate. Since the device was purchased from the US, the US warranty would be applicable. I don't think it has anything to do with quality/MTBF.
