Hi Fellas,

Before i mention my doubts in this thread, want to make 1 thing very clear. Me not very technically sound w.r.to Digital in/ Coxial / Dts / Dxx etc etc. Tried understanding the same but no luck. Anyways,

My question is simple - I need 5.1 Audio out from my Asus G-50VT x6.

Current Infra -

1. Bravia with HDMI in

2. Laptop with HDMI out

3. Intex 6800 audio system with 6 RCA in & 6 RCA out for center, woofer, rear & front.

Currently what i do is, i connect my Laptop with LCD thru HDMI ( So i get 1080p on LCD )

For audio i use Headphone jack of laptop and connect it to my speaker amp & get Stereo out.

Now, i dont want to invest much, need a solution. After googling, few answers tht came forward were -

1. Buy a USB to 5.1 sound card

2. Buy a DVD player with USB & 5.1 out.

Please suggest, need your expert advice mates.

Thanks a ton. !

coolcatric,

option 1 seems gud for ur scenario as not all dvd players support HD content specially when now and then new formats are coming...

I just read about the following,

Here is the good 5.1 usb card..

I was having the same situation... You are saying ur budget is limited, if that can be extended in that case i will ask u to consider buying a media player like asus o mini... (that's how i setup mu audio-video experience)

Pavan...
