Laptops 5740G now has a successor!

The bestselling Acer laptop that many swear by as the VFM king, now has a refreshed lineup with more models, even better specs (though the 5650 is available only on the 17in model) and most importantly, better build quality.

Acer has announced its 2010 offerings - hit the link for the official word (and the review )and even though its not an indian website i believe the company should announce it here soon. Just look at how 'out of stock' these things have been in the recent times, an indication that the company is trying to bring in the new stuffs (i guess!).

Specifications look sweet and its 999 Euro~1400USD which is sweet for such a good config but i would never get acer because of the pathetic A.S.S they have in India

On a side note : I dont think so that Acer will release all of its models in India all major brands dump their old lineup to India before they release better ones abroad:mad:

Re: 5740G now has MANY successors!

5820T is a timelinex series laptop succeeding the 5810T.

These laptops are meant for portability and longer battery life so i guess there will be a premium, expect around 55k for it..

Does anyone have any concrete information regarding the date of availability of 5741G, 5942G or 5820T??

As of now, 5740G is unavailable at nearby stores but they said they'll be bringing in more stock as soon as possible.

Moreover, there is this Acer mall partner - Silica technologies, rohini, near my house, they themselves were more like promoting Dell inspiron and studio instead of 5740G. I just couldn't understand why? Is this because they earn more profits in Dell?

spot on! I though of getting Acer 5740 but instead am going for Sony Vaio. Though Sony Vaio costs a bit more, it's far more reliable and support is top notch.

btw, if you take a look at Sony Vaio E-series models available in India and in USA, the models in India are better configured than those in USA. Better pricing and concentration on Indian buyers by Sony, looks like they are taking the right route this time. :)

While E-series in India comes with FullHD and HD5670 in 49k priced model, the max USA buyer can get is HD5470 and there is no option for FullHD display.

Any idea about when Lenovo Y460/560 are being launched?

Since Acer 5740G is rumoured to be discontinued, I am very keen on buying Y560.
