No need for a RMA now, the same thing happened to my WD once, and it was cured just by CHANGING THE SATA CABLE, yes, the el cheapo cables that most of use give away very soon, me and my friends have actually suffered from as much as 5 broken SATA cables, just replace it and it might be O.K, WD is not seagate, and the chances of it dying all of a sudden are slim, WD drives are slow goers, a few bad blocks now and they increase with time, but not sudden BOOM like seagate.mk76 said:Today Windows took long time to boot. I checked the event manager and found the following error in System Log.
The device, \Device\Harddisk0\D, has a bad block.
These appeared today only. The HDD is WD7500AACS is 6 months old. PSU is Corsair Vx450. What should I do???
Yes, in WD drives those bad sectors will increase over time, back up your data, RMA it.mk76 said:Used HD Tune. It found some bad sectors. Then I used WD Lifegaurd diagnostics. It also found some bad sectors but was able to 'repair' them (I assume it marked them bad).
No more problems for last couple of days. My question here is - Is it still required to RMA this drive?
