Hi EveryOne,

I am planning to buy a new rig and I dont have enough funds to buy everything in One go. So I have come up with following points:

1. As I would be buying a Graphic card after some time I need a Mobo with a good IGP which can sustain me for some time.

2. The Mobo should be high end. Having number of SATA ports. Esata capability, Crossfire Support etc.

3. Looking at 200mph guide I seriously feel future looks good for Multi-Core procs. (See Supreme commander benchies where X 3 Phemoms are way better than Intel E 8400) The procy should be atleast more than dual core.

5. Budget is another constraint not more than 15 K for Mobo + Proc

4. Investing in P45 means that there is no room for upgrading in future as Corei7 is just around the corner.

6. Atleast Deneb's initial Procy's would be AM2+ socket and would not require anything more than 750SB and 140W support Mobo. For AMD most of anything coming in next year would go for AM2+ socket.

My usage would be decent gaming experience with good experience in general usage.

Looking at all this I feel that GiGabyte's new 790GX with onboard 3300HD and side port memory, full atx form factor, Crossfire support 140W CPU support would be a best option

For now Phenom X 3 8750 Black edition with stock speeds of 2.4 Ghz and with good HSF can go upto 3 GHz is a good option.

At newegg it is being sold at 134 $. As it was recently launched in some more time I am sure it will come down to 120 $ something and in India it should not be more than 6 - 7K
Newegg says that it comes with a Low quality Stock HSF, So again I can invest in a Good HSF and HD4850 after some time (in 2 - 3 months).

What do u guys say?
Please correct me if I am wrong anywhere.
Also, Does any one has any Idea till when this Combo would be available in India and at what Price.

Suggestions and critics are welcomed.
Thanks

No problemo go the AMD way I think it will be lesser than 7k cause at 9k you should get you can get your self a Phenom X4 9950.

I am a newbie at overclocking. As these black editions comes with unlocked multipliers I can overclock easily. What else is special with black edition Procs

lostcircuits had a good review on tri core proccy, there is a problem with some apps not identifying the tri core properly and working on a single core only.and some other quirks,
LostCircuits, CPU Guide

imo the 6500BE should be just around the corner and will hold you well till the denebs come out.

The link above makes me feel as if X3 are the worst CPU on the planet.
Even Crysis was running as a single core.
Its very Strange as no where else I came across this Info.
Also X3 are like Dhobi ka Kutta na gharka na ghat ka...... kind.
I better go for 9850 BE or 9950 BE. Can anyone give me price estimates

9950BE=11.3K from local dealers. After I kicked up a storm I was able to get 10600 from AMD preferred dealer. I stilll was resisting, so final price I got one one (not yet picked up) is 9000+VAT+Octroi. If picked up from Vasai one could prevent octroi, but that's a lot of petrol for the trip.

dhobi ka kutta...
well the x3 does have some issues, but they are with the application correctly identifying the cpu,i didn't read the whole review earlier.
crysis is very much intel biased so i don't think a better amd cpu will show any significant gains there,ut3 which is truly multi-threaded shows excellent scaling with the x3.but then you can't be sure if future games and codes come with three core proccys in mind,so yeah the quad BE would be better.
newegg has the 9950BE 125W for 185$ and they oc to 3Ghz nicely but their heat output is quite high so you would need a good HSF for going beyond that.

The 790GX mobo is an excellent choice.
As for the proccy, I'd recommend a low end Athlon X2 for now (get it second hand to further reduce the cost). The 45nm Phenoms will be come out soon, so get it when they do.

Thats out of budget for me  How about 9850 BE? Whats the Price?

^^ was around 8500 a month back. so i think ~8000Rs.

@sangram

That's really good price for 9950. Is that's the standard price or discounted price??

It is distributor price ;) so you can't get that from a dealer. And it was for the 140 watt CPU as there was no 125 version then.

Hey mate there is something in this review (it also says for Crysis that "CPU utilization shows a single thread, just as in the case of the X4 9850").
In all the 8750 Reviews crysis performance of X3 8750 is very close to or better than X4 9750

X-bit labs - Three Cores vs. Two: AMD Phenom X3 8750 Review (page 6)

bit-tech.net | Review - AMD Phenom X3 8750

AMD Phenom X3 8750 Review - CPUs and Memory Reviews - TrustedReviews.

So in all Phenom procs (X4 or X3) equal number of cores are being used.

I think 3 cores recognition is not that big an issue.
And these reviews are for normal multiplier locked 8750 which was launched 6 months back I am planning for Black edition.

I will better stick with my Plan for 8750.

I found a link
AMD Phenom X3 processors prices slashed

Saying :

AMD has slashed it’s triple-core Phenom X3 processors prices. The new prices will be:
AMD Phenom X3 8450 - Rs. 4,800
AMD Phenom X3 8650 - Rs. 5,600
AMD Phenom X3 8750 - Rs. 6,100
AMD Phenom X3 8750 Black Edition with overclocking support - Rs. 6,400

This link seems to be month old. May be prices have settelled down a bit more.
I feel at that price Black edition is a good option.
Gigabyte 790GX must be somewhere around 8K. So for 14 - 15 K i will have a good combo.:ohyeah:
