Graphic Cards 8600gt 512mb zebronics

i am considering buying an 8600gt 512mb for something around 7.1k , i wanted to know your opinions regarding how long will this card last , considering that nvidia 9series is going to launch in december , and the launch of dx10 games.i intend to play :
bf 2142 , CSS , lost planet , RB6 , command and conquer & other good gaming titles on my 19"W lcd
my budget is max 7~7.2k, wont be buying a new card for about 10-12 months after this .
my system spec:
2*1GB667 cosiar value
C2D E6600@ stock
160 sata2 segate
 
512 MB is not going to make it perform better .. that 128 bit mem. interface is crippling .. but for 7k's , it sound like a good enuf deal. ..
 
I would suggest that if you get 8600 GT 256MB for around 6.2-6.4k then go for that. The extra 256MB is not going to help you in anything at all..
 
well on my friends PC (E6300,1.5gb 533,7600gt 256) lost planet dx9 demo sometimes used to give errors like " not enough video memory ... 1 was going after 512 mb only to resolve this issue , will the 512mb help?
 
that might be refering to the RAM or the page file. Did it say something specific about VRAM?
 
Games like doom3, lost planet need that extra 256m vram to enable all that extra eye candy. I guess the 512M card is a good buy considering u'll be saving a maximum of 800~1k. Get the 8600GT 512 MB. You can wait for a couple of weeks and get the 8600GTS 256M, but that again has a 128-bit interface.
 
^^ like sathya said with 128Bit mem bandwidth i really doubt if the entire 512MB would be used. its better u go for a 8600GTS from KMD, trust me its Awsome.
 
i have the 8600gt 256mb and the 8500gt 512mb, and the 8600gt is much better, faster, nicer, cooler and everything...:)
 
even if the 512mb one has an advantage of loading up that much texture data, it doesnot have the muscle and the bandwidth to process it.
 
so the final opinion is in favour of 256mb ? can any of u plz find any benchmarks of the 512 mb one , coz i cudlnt find any !!! otherwise should i buy a 7600gt for nw and later , when the 9 series is released , the prices should fall , and then i should buy the dx10 enabled card...? what say ....?am getting my friends 6mnths old 7600gt 256mb (palit) for 4k???? any ideas?
 
^^Performance will be roughly similar with the 8600 GT beating the 7600 by about 10%-20%. If its enough for ur uses i think the 7600 GT will be fine for current use
 
Blindly you have to get Zebronics 8600GT 512Mb and you wont regret it for future games.. extra memory always helps..
 
yes but what about the rumours that dx 10 cards would suck at dx10.1 games...is it advisable to hold off the purchase for a while?

anyone owns a 512 ddr3 8600gt????? would love the performance benchmarks....hard to find on the net.

dont know why nvidiabeast is adamant on 512MB...but u wont find any benchmarks because no one buys it, and reviewers know that they will be wasting time.

See let me put it in layman's term.....there is your GPU and the RAM and there is a link between them. RAM is the place where your temporary data gets stored to be sent to the GPU for processing of the data. Now since 8600GT has only a 128bit interface, that means the data link between the GPU and RAM is so low that the extra storage space in the RAM would never be used. Since its not the RAM which wud create bottleneck but the link between RAM and GPU.

its like haing PC with 1GB ram and other with 2GB ram. gaming on 1GB rams (latest games) would be choppy sometimes. gaming on 2GB ram would be smoodh.. this is the theory. more the RAM, faster loading of games and textures and boost in performance. you will see atleast 5-10% boost in gaming performance in 512MB GDDR3 RAM

System ram too have 128-bit interface (AMD) so you will notice difference between performance between 1GB and 2GB RAM.. interface doesnt come into picture. correct me if i am wrong :)
 
loll. take this example. CPU=GPU. if CPU has 2 GIG ram and if the same CPU in other machine got 4GIG ram, so u think the CPU with 4GIG ram will have no processing power for fully using 4GIG.. this is awkward.. i am not arguing. i am just not satisfied with the logic
