loll. take this example. CPU=GPU. if CPU has 2 GIG ram and if the same CPU in other machine got 4GIG ram, so u think the CPU with 4GIG ram will have no processing power for fully using 4GIG.. this is awkward.. i am not arguing. i am just not satisfied with the logic

take this example, you have a P2 500Mhz and 2 GIG ram and if the same CPU in other machine got 4GB ram, u think that the computer will benefit with the extra RAM???? If you are still not satisfied with the logic then may GOD help you....:bleh: :bleh: :bleh: :bleh:

Anyways i think with the 8600GT its not about the slow GPU but more about the bottlenock created by the 128bit interface but since I am not 100% sure about it, the verdict is still out in the open.

dont know why nvidiabeast is adamant on 512MB...but u wont find any benchmarks because no one buys it, and reviewers know that they will be wasting time.

See let me put it in layman's term.....there is your GPU and the RAM and there is a link between them. RAM is the place where your temporary data gets stored to be sent to the GPU for processing of the data. Now since 8600GT has only a 128bit interface, that means the data link between the GPU and RAM is so low that the extra storage space in the RAM would never be used. Since its not the RAM which wud create bottleneck but the link between RAM and GPU.

Dont know what i have written(so confusing), if you are able to understand, please explain it back to me.....

after saying that u called nvidiabeast dumb. Thats like saying connecting a 1 TB hdd in IDE instead of SATA would not allow u to use the full capacity...

the 128 bit interface isnt the only problem here, its the GPU as well. If the 128 bit interface had 2.8 Ghz GDDR4 it would be the same as a 256 bit with 1.4 Ghz DDR3(the most common configuration of 256 bit found nowadays). With the 8600 GT you would be hard pressed to run above 1024X768 for newer and even recent games and 256 MB would suffice for that resolution. But if you are going for the 8600 GT and the 512 MB is just a few hundred more theres nothing wrong goin with it

First i didnt call nvidiabeast dumb(hope u understand the difference between adamant and dumb)...second what i meant by saying 'wud never be used' meant that the extra storage space in the RAM wud not be utilised(though all 512MB might be full) since the GPU is not fast enuf or is not getting the data fast enuf to process.

^^ur contradicting urself again. the extra storage space on the ram would not be utilised(even though 512 MB would be full)?? Would you care to explain, in layman's terms what u mean by that. And if u wanted to say the GPU is not fast enough, say that in the first place instead of droning on and on about how 128 bit sucks. And please elaborate on how the gpu would not get the data fast enough to process

if ur changing ur GPU in 8-10 months (as u said above) then u dont need to wait.

so final opinion if i shall change a gcard within 7-8months
7600gt (used) 2yr warranty left : 4,000
8600gt 256 (new) :6,300
which is better if i shall change the card withing 7-8 months???

^^ no!! the only difference is 2.3K i think you should go for 8600GT. got DX10 support for the upcoming DX10 games and i bet NFS: PRO STREET will perform better on 8600GT rather than crap 7600. 6.3K is damn cheap for 8600GT. and why u should go for used 7600?? :P

Depends on how much u want to spend. Both arent bad options at all, so if u have the budget 8600 GT all the way

it certainly depends upon you....for 7-8 months maybe you can do with the 7600gt as well....but an overclocked 8600gt performs much better than an overclocked 7600gt, and you are getting a very good price for the 8600gt

Okay...as dumb as it is to hover about the same question again and again...
but:
lets assume a scenario that i have to sell my 8600gt 256 that i buy now for ~6k ...lets say...after 7-8 months because i cannot fully enjoy the games that are released then due to poor power of the card and blah,blah....so please give your estimates how much shall it sell for...
coz if it isnt much...i wont be able to upgrade ...coz...after this time...if i even dare to mention anything about graphics cards to my dad...he'll blow my brains out personally...sine my SGPA is showing signs of weakning and may fall below the holy 8 mark...hence..even if i have to spend a little more ...i want to be secure about the future...that was the whole idea behind 7600GT...i buy for 4k and even if i have to sell...i predicted that i shall ATLEAST get 2k....a loss of 2k is acceptable...

considering the case of the ppl who bought 7600gs about 10months back (arnd 8k)...now struggling to sell for 4k....i dont want the same to happen to me...because i think that upon the release of nvidia 9xxx cards...the prices of 8 series are going to fall (obviously)...and if i then shall need to upgrade due to onset of good dx10 games...i would have to do so at a heavy loss...

which considering my sources of income (===Rs0/pm) will be very hard.

so please ...suggest the best option...

===

To be in a best secured position wait a litle for the nvidia 9XXX ..things will change..I think 8600gt is the itermediary option for u.

WAIT FOR 9XXX

Also the launce of nvidia 9xxx series,,it will very difficult to sell a 7 series card..I think Dx9 games will be released through out the 2008
(( I assume that you have a card to play games for 1-2 monthss ))

Hi, Is the card is the DDR2 version???... I think its better to get a 256MB DDR3 card rather than 512MB DDR2... well i use a 8600GT 256MB DDR3 & it gives me around 35 fps @ 1024x768 at med settings and at stock clocks, on cryisis...
