My old xfx 8500GT has died recently. Now I am looking for good card to replace it.

My budget is 5k. I am not hardcore gamer. I may play just in the weekends. I don't need the performance of an 8800.

Which brands should I go for? I paid a little extra for my 8500 because it was an xfx. It died within a year.:@

Any 9500GT owner's here? Its relatively new and there are very few review out there.

I got to choose between these two model's. Both of them cost around 4k. Which one do you suggest?

Hang on for a few days and then when 4670 launches (probably on 10 or 12 sept) get one through KMD. Chances are it will in your budget.

As for the choices that you have right now, 9500GT > 8600GT. But I ask you to wait because HD 4670 > 9500GT (will be)

Died in a year? Then warranty should still be valid. Get it replaced :)

I have a zebby ( zebronics) 9500gt 512mb ddr2, picked it up for 3.9k here in b'lore.

I had a budget of 6k, but B'lore sucks in terms of availability and variations, almost everyone who had 9500gt Zotac or any other brand ddr3 version was quoting 6k :S whereas a 9600gt for abt 7k w\o VAT.

Why i picked this card up :

1) My SMPS is rated only for 300 watts
2) My proccy is an AMD x2 series , so higher end card will find it as bottleneck
3) i don't play high end games
4) i might pick up a console sometime down the line
5) i needed somethings that will run cool
I have not done any review of this card but it is sufficient for occasional sessions of CSS and runs quite cool , the heatsink is cold to touch while idle and barely gets warm after hours of gaming

All in all if you are on a very tight budget get this, the Zotac version will be better with Samsung memory chips cuz, zebby provides el cheapo hynix memory modules.

But all in all if you are willing to bear extra heat ans put in some more dough and have a better proccy then 46xx series is the way to go.

Cheers :)

If you are just comparing 8600gt and 9500gt,the best vfm card will be an 86oogt(mercury brand) if you can find it that is...!costs just 3k.Otherwise try to go for hd3650 or 9600gso..

I myself am pretty astonished to know that 9500gt worked fine on an SMPS of under 300w
