so is better than 8800GTS 640 mb...

thats very bad from Nvidia.

for ppl like me who has purchased its 8800 GTS/GTX series earlier its not a good show.

anyways good for u new buyers :D

The GTX is a year old and still is a great card, second to the Ultra. Recent GTX/Ultra owners may feel bad, but if this is the new midrange cards performance, I can't wait to see flagship cards from NVIDIA/ATI in Dec/Jan.

i think G98 is a low end chip..will replace d 8500 series.

d G90 will b surely twice as powerful as d G80 :)

it will prolly launch at inflated prices.. somewhere around 300-340 at least,,, in the first month or two.. bfore stabilizing...

not to mention u need to watch out for which card you get,,

the regular version will be the G92_300.. these will be the 512MB/1GB cards nd will come 384/768 bits.

its being said that the low end 256mb parts, aka the G92_200 will be actually G96 cards...

yeah.. G98 is rumoured to give at least two and an half times better performance than 8800GTX ..

Please quote the source from where this rumor originated?

Slight off topic: to inform the users of this forum
GF8800 Ultra was launched by Nvidia just to show and mark down its performance superiority over AMD as the top tier GPU in the market. In reality, it is quite possibly one of the worst value for money cards in the market, at the moment.

Straight from the HardOCP's comparison of the 8800 GTX vs 8800 Ultra:
HardOCP's 'NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra & SLI' said:
"Unless you are timid about or do not practice the art of overclocking at all and want the “fastest†GPU (by a few percent), there is no reason to buy a GeForce 8800 Ultra right now. You can save a couple of hundred dollars and get a cheaper factory overclocked GeForce 8800 GTX which will perform within a few miniscule percent of the GeForce 8800 Ultra."

I really do not understand why people fall into such marketing gimmicks.

That's exaggeration... wouldn't make business sense for nVIDIA to do that unless AMD/ATI's new flagship exhibits the same level of performance.

if i have enough cash then i can get 8800 ultra or stick gtx version :P

nice review bottle why can u change that gpu card :P

This whole thing smells of a G71 again. That chip was used in cards ranging all the way from 7900 GS to 7900 GTX and we may see a repeat here

Do you mean to say that 8800GT die (whatever it is called...G92) will be used to release a complete range of cards from low->mid->high tier?

If so, I am wondering as to why Nvidia needs to release a higher spec card when there is absolutely no competition at high end. At low-mid range, it makes more sense because, AMD has pretty viable options in the form of HD 2900 series and the upcoming HD 38XX series.

Then again, maybe Nvidia knows something about the performance of the HD 38XX series, which scares them :P

We will just have to wait and see, won't we?
Good times ahead :D

HD38xx will b nothing but a revamped R600 which will b now d R670 wid xact same speca as R600 but wid 256 bit bus instead of 512 bit bus n build on 55nm optical shrink .

so xpect it to b in tough competition wid d 8800gt if only AMD can get the AA sorted out.

I believe that ATI does AA thorugh shaders. As long as this remains I doubt AA performance can increase drastically since I am not sure how many games support this feature even in the near future. We can only hope that AMD does something interesting time time round.
