Do you mean to say that 8800GT die (whatever it is called...G92) will be used to release a complete range of cards from low->mid->high tier?

If so, I am wondering as to why Nvidia needs to release a higher spec card when there is absolutely no competition at high end. At low-mid range, it makes more sense because, AMD has pretty viable options in the form of HD 2900 series and the upcoming HD 38XX series.

Then again, maybe Nvidia knows something about the performance of the HD 38XX series, which scares them

Thats exactly what i meant, tho only mid range to high end. G92 definitely wont be low end. G92 seems to be a full G80 on 65 nm so they disable clusters as needed and sell as different SKU's. And as for why they need to release a higher end card, do u think ATI is sitting on their ass doing nothing? Theyre working on a higher performance card and hence so is nvidia, simple as that. But true this gen of mid rane cards should be good

As i understand,its not the shader's thats the problem with AA,its something else.Shaders are more powerful than one might think..
RV670 i believe is not a dumb shrink,there might be some changes..

From what i read it seems that the ROP's do not have AA resolve, and hence they have to use shader power to do this. And as for the shader power, NV's scalar approach is supposed to be more efficient
