Hello again,

Issue :
I got the MSI 8800GT @ stock clocks. Not sure if this is a problem with the card or the game as it overheats quickly during GRID gameplay. The temperature shoot to over 84c within 5-6 mins of playtime. Secondly, the game crashes when the temps reach the 80-84c mark and it blames the nvddlkm(nvddlkm stopped responding and has been recovered successfully) for the crash. The temps never goes above 60c when playing other games, but when it comes to GRID, its insane.

Troubleshootings steps performed till now :
1. Updated the driver to 177.41(meant for G200s) with modded nvdisp.dll for 8800GT - same issue.
2. Downgraded the driver to 169.xx - same issue (infact tried most of the drivers)
3. Toggled with ingame graphic settings :
resolution -@- 1024x768 with all the AA options including Level 1-8 (tested) with/out Vsync and more options toggled and tested without any results.
4. Waiting for your suggestions ;)

Any help would save my money spent on this game :ashamed:

see the fan speed in rivatuner and try settings it to 60-100% for 3d mode and see the the temps running GRID then .

oh forgot to mention.. the fan speed is always set to 100% :rofl: since i got the card approx a year back.. cooling is not the solution to this particular problem my friend.. i ve got 4 fans moving a great amount of air.. almost perfect ventilation no doubt.. as i said earlier.. its just GRID thats causing such a havoc.. no other game .. not even freakin' crysis made my card cry :(

You have lot of dust inside ur card, get it out, blew to remove dust from holes, pipes etc.. Hope it will work.:ohyeah:

how do u know there is dust :P .. well its cleaner than my rabbit no doubt. any other suggestions :|
u guys need to read the post properly.. it only happens when i play GRID .. how is the dust and fan speed going to help for a single game :S

i clean it every fortnight.. googled for this but didnt find much info.. and as i see there is a good amount of ppl playing grid thought of askin around..

hmm......i had MSI 8800GT OC it used to touch tht temp mark while playin crysis....@ 100% fan speed..so dont worry it wont melt like an icecream :P

BTE,

What s/w did u use to measure those temps btw??

Since other games dont wreck such a havoc, I dont think its an issue with the cooling either;

Have u slapped a grain of MX2?? :) Its not an alternative although I'd suggest u to try that option; the stock goop that these cards come with are useless IMO; :no:

no re gannu.. it only happens with GRID.. never seen such catastrophic temps in any game till now :no:
i use rivatuner to measure temps.. + i have one of the cabby's temp diodes directly sticking to the card..
as for the thermal paste.. yes i have MX2 on it carefully bladed

i dont pay for downloaded stuff ;) .. it normally crashes with nvdxxxx driver not responding when the temps are at 80+ ...

He's already reverted back from thee 174.xx to the good old 169.21;

I suspect something else; :no:

Yeh buddy, it is Nvidias nvlddmkm.sys file which is culprit.. Its actually a bug in NV driver wch is effecting many games includng Hellgate london.. Google
' nvlddmkm.sys - the truth ' leads to bjorn3D.com
Could hve given link, but im on low bandwidth..

i am getting a feeling that GRID may have this incompatiblity with nv cards.. cuz none of the drivers are working fine..

Yes.. me thinking the same here.. its that particular sys file thats causing crashes.. but only when the temps rise.. can this file be substituted with some other "working" file ?

Edit : I googled for the keywords provided by muzux2. (nvlddmkm.sys - the truth)
there is a hotfix (KB940105 Hotfix).. but i am using vista 64bit sp1.. dont think it works :no:
