@pcgamer - Thanks for ur suggestion..now more inclined to getting a EVGA 8800GT rather than a X2 for now....maybe will buy the X2 somewhere around next yr start by tht time it would have fallen into the mid-end GFX so wud be a hell lot cheaper :hap2:

Thats good option
Always select the GFX card based on your monitor and the resolution you play on
No use going for a beast of a GFX card, when you are going to play at 1240 or 1024 etc

Hey mate, no offence meant, but what fps are you getting in CoD4 at this resolution ? What are the settings ? Sorry to interrupt this thread but this is beyond expectations from 8800GT :ohyeah:
Just curious
i get above 60 @ COD4
and 28-30 @ Dirt

all measured thru fraps.
the card is not OC`d because of freakin summer time

Thx for the info . what AA are you running CoD on ?

HD3870X2 is faster than the 8800GTS and 9800GTX...The GTX is basically the GTS with better Memory and a waste of money IMO.

I wud say go wit the X2 eyes closed .

I suggest you something, based on my experience
Dont go for the most high-end/high budget card. Chances are that card will be overtaken by a mid-budget card in a years time.
You will also have a hard time selling them after their glory days

Go for the card which has best price/performance ratio, like mid-high end card.
Now, its 8800GT - It will allow to play all new games at good resolution/high settings (maybe except for Crysis, even highend cards bow to it)

Save the xtra money, put in MF's, shares etc, take it after a year, sell this card and buy a new one with that money which is mid-high card then and continue playing well.

This process will not burn your pockets a lot and you can end up keeping with technology by investing smart

Hope I made sense

golden advice:hap2:
right now 8800gt and gts pretty much maxx out every game at that settings,3870x2 is for people with 30'' screens and deep pockets, not to mention crossfire is not applicable to each game.

3870x2 would b the best choice...
it beats each n every card as of now...

but do upgrade ur psu...

are you saying not all games can/will use both parts (crossfire/sli) of the X2 ??? i am now thinking about getting the X2 since i have a 1920x1200 screen... but most likely will settle for 8800GT/512 due to monetary concerns :ohyeah:

No they are supported, may be a few older games but every game that is coming out now is CF supported.

At 19*12 Screen res the 8800gt would surely succumb. so its better to go for the 3870x2.

Even im considering one at the moment. :)

It's actually on very high resolutions that the 3870X2 shows its true colours, but yeah you can buy 8800GT at the moment which is nicely priced at around 11.5 K, save later for 4870 or 4870X2. Just my 2 cents :cool2:

it sucks that the pricing is poor in india and pretty much no warranty support - i guess hardly any or no service centers for ATI board vendors? the 3870x2 is some awesome tech, i would have got it (even from abroad) if not for the above concerns
