guys plz help me on choosing best value pack for
Pentium D + 945 (or whatever required) + AGP slot.

my friend is having 9800pro and would like to upgrade from his P4 1.8. but dont want to changer right now his card. i could not find board which support Pentium D with AGP slots.
help plz...

want to fit good Mobo + proc in mid budget price...
which is best Pentium D right now... i mean to say best value for moeny.
thx in advance....

p.s. - No AMD plzzzzzzzzzz
and budge is max - 11-13k..

It should work but I'm unsure of the availability of either :S. The VIA chipset will be faster as it supports DDR2.

All the recent Intel 865G Chipset based Motherboards are supporting Pentium D processors uto 800 MHz FSBs. You can try ECS 865G-M8 Motherboard.

^^If that was ever available. Will you stop recommending stuff thats not available here Arnov!! I seriously doubt you will find even the Asrock. Just go for a board with Integrated Graphics for now and he can buy a graphics card when he wants to. Why does he want a 945 series chipset anyway. Instead get a Intel D102GGC(it has DDR2 support as well unlike the D101) and has decent integrated graphics. Its also at a very nice price at just 3.7k while a 945 board will cost you > 5.5k. For the CPU get the D 930 for 9k. its much much better than the Pentium D 805, dont think of gettin the 805 when the 930 is just about 2.5k more.

Umm actually ECS is available in India right now from Cyberstar Infocomm. But not too common.

Well an Intel Original board based on 865 chipset (LGA 775,supports Pentium D as well) with 8x AGP Slot is now flooded in the market. I dont remember the model no. , but its very much available in bangalore at least, costs arnd 3500+tax.

Supports only DDR though.

^^When you can get a Radeon Xpress 200 with PCIE for 3.7k why even think of that. Well obviously no AGP slot but there is really n use sticking around with it now.

^^Arre that dude has a 9800 Pro which he wants to use... thats why AGP :P. Onboard X300SE is way way slower than a 9800 pro.

^^Yea that i know, im just sayin that its no use sticking around with AGP. If he wants to upgrade his graphics card later whats he gonna do.

Thats why its best to get that VIA chipset ASRock ;). Supports both PCI-E and AGP natively and performs pretty well too cos it supports DDR2-667. It shud be available cos ASRock Pentium boards are easily available.

Have you gone crazy dude, can't you see with your naked eyes that he also want's to use his AGP based Graphics Card. ECS Boards are readily available in Nehru Place and also in other parts of India although not so popular as ASUS and Gigabyte Boards are. That was just one of the options out of all the 865G Chipset Boards available:P .

BTW do you want to overclock or atleast plan to overclock in future ? If you want to overclock, then go for the Asrock mbd as it has decent overclocking features. Intel boards offer zero overclocking options.

i am getting that mobo at Delta for 2800 rs.
price in pune of D930 is 11700 compare to 9400 delta offering...

let me assemble that with Asus cooler and i will OC that machine as best as possible. if i like that combo then i will change my 2.4+865intel to this.
it will be strong than current. as i also have 6600GT (AGP) and good enough to play games i like (AOE, Diablo etc..)

i am not intrested currently in DDR-II as it is very exp and will come down later. you can say this will be upgrade for next 8-10 months.

then i can think of DDR-II 800 with Conroe :)

it is Asus P5800-VM one. with AGP ..
i dont know about Asrock..

Asus looking great coz i have 512 x 4-DDR 400 ram chips so i will be able to use them with this new board... what you say..

it's again a Intel 865G Chipset based board, not a bad deal dude considering the fact that it has 4 RAM Slots and a AGP 8x slot.

guys i have upgraded my machine as well.
i did this becoz i just wanted to change from my 865GBF:@

now i have Pentium D930 stock@3 GHz + 4 x 512 DDR-400, and 6600GT AGP.
good machine i will say. enjoyed 7 virtual systems ( 2 windows 2003 servers, 4 Win XP and 1 linux) running at same time. previously with my lovely 2.4c it was 6 systems. happy now with Pentium D.

well in 3d mark 05 i could score only 3291 only as i have not changed my OS since last 5 months. need clean format may be....

thx a ton guys for help.
