Graphic Cards 9500GT to kick 8600GT's ar*e

Really, why the hell 8600GT was launched at all
It barely improved on 7600GT and stumbled every time you went beyond 1024X786 in contemporary games.
Most of all it failed to live up to X600 series cards. 6600GT, 7600GT, 9600GT are all true performers, held in high esteem by mainstream gamers... but this 8600GT was a bad seed

And npw they say 9500GT is going to beat 8600GT in gaming performance. die 8600GT, you let a X500 series score one over X600. Die!!!!

Performance is almost a nonentity if the pricing is bad. So lets see the price on this.

AFAIK 8600gt was launched at a much lower price than 7600gt and 6600gt so it was very good if you compare price/performance.

Although the initial drivers were poor, the 8600GT is not a bad card at all. It matches the minimum requirements of most games and can handle games at medium settings with ease.
The performance and price difference between the 8800 series and the 8600gt was high and hence it should have been positioned as an entry level card rather than midrange.
Regarding the performance comparison with 9500GT, it would have been fair to blame nvidia if they had released both the cards in the same timeframe. 1 year is a long time and technology does evolve rapidly. The same 9500GT would be beaten by some card offering twice the performance at the same price point.

8600 GT was priced a lil higher, what was a total misery was the 8600 GTS which was launched at USD 200.

9600GT is priced very sweetly for the price performance it delivers

I take that as an offensive post :p
Just kiddin...........honestly 8600GT aint that bad a crd ya.....the initial drivers din do justice.
Secondly i played COD4, pro-street and every other game at 1280X1024 with all high(crysis @ 1024) ...no AA.
Finally the 6600GT and 7600GT were priced around 10k...i got my 66gt when it was released for 12k...but the 86GT started at 8.5k.......so it was playing the price game too....though I agree it does not deserve to be in the the Nvidia x600GT club

It seems that NVIDIA is preparing a GeForce 9500 GT to replace their older 8500 GT. When you look at the leaked specs, we could suffice with one word .. the GeForce 8600 core, as tTe G96 core has 32 shader processors, but the core operates at 650MHz, shaders at 1625MHz, which should make up for it a bit. Quite a jump for the 8500 Gt though.

There will be two versions. One with GDDR2 memory at 900MHz and one with GDDR3 at 1600MHz. Both have 128-bit memory interfaces. A review posted at Chinese site zol.com.cn and reveals performance which is just slightly better than GeForce 8600GT, which isn't all that surprising since the product specs are really similar.

Just like the rest of the series 9 products, this product isn't all about performance, but PCIe 2.0, lower power consumption and an updated PureVideo HD.

The 8600GT is a very good card. With new drivers it beats the 7900GS.

And i played Crysis, COD4, Stalker, Bioshock and many games at 1440x900 and almost max settings (except Crysis).

Its an awesome card considering its price. And i and most 8600GT r very satisfied with it.

Same here. Bought it for 4.5k [Overclocked edition] and I expect that I can make do with it for another year.

8600 GT is a damn good card for its price .
Since I am stuck with a CRT with a max res of 1024* 768 ,I can play almost any game including Crysis(with AA on) at good framerates.

Anyway any idea what the price of this new card will be ?

I owns a 8600GT. At stock the card is nothing to write about.

It can't play Crysis at 1024X768+medium settings all the way. In Core as well final level you are bound to get some serious lags at these settings.

I know from my experience that at 1024X768, 8600GT barely makes cut for F.E.A.R. and at 1440X900 for CoD2 (around 35 FPS).

However, it is also true that for budget gamers for 4.5K 8600GT is a very nice card. but when it was launched it was costing around 8.5K. This was a very bad price for this card. Most of all it carried X600 GT moniker that it does not deserve.

Nvidia could have named it 8500GTX and I had no trouble with it. But by naming a card 8600GT, you are cashing on the image of X600 GT series to sell a inferior card. Bad Nvidia, very bad Nvidia

9600 gt beats a 8800 gts 320 ???

i dont think so!!
in higher resolutions maybe , but not under resolutions of 1024 and 1280 or maybe even not in 1440
