GALAXY 9600GSO based on G92 core the same with 8800GS/GT and in theory, it can support 256bit. GALAXY 9600GSO has 8 video memory and this full feed the conditions.

possible change 9600GSO to 8800GT by refreshing the BIOS. GALAXY provided dual BIOS, so if we failed we can recover it.

GALAXY 9600GSO attached the MAGICPANEL BIOS refresh tool and it is easy to refresh it.
