this may sound really really stupid but did u connect the vga cable to the card?

What about the power cable? The 9800XT requires a separate Molex connector to be attached to the card. But of course, your system would wildly beep if you hadn't done this. Confirm this anyway.

also, see if the card is properly seated, that is it goes fully inside the slot, cant be a power issue though coz if u dont connect the power, ull get beeps and display on ur monitor stating that the power cable is not connected..

that wudn't happen in the absence of the speaker/beeper. I had a tough time diagnosing RAM problem not so long ago as there was no speaker.. my 2 cents..

yea, but incase of no power cable attached, he will get a display on the montior with a "check the power cable" msg...

i did set agp as first display device ..

but still not working
no display no beep???

i m pretty sure that the video card is working cauz it had checked it the very same day at bbc after buying it

also my earlier 9600 non pro was working on the same board so most probably board problem ruled out

cant figure out the problem man

i m screwed for sure!!!!

what all are asking is your molex connector attached to card, if yes, try a different molex connector. but double check, are you sure your molex connector is connected to your graphics card ?

or, boot using onboard gpu and check your agp settings, or post those settings here so that members can tell you if something is wrong with them.

agp settings 8x aperture size 128mb

i m using 300watt vip psu .. i wonder if this could be the culprit
but i checked this by removing power to cdwriter , floppy drive and even the harddisk but still no display.

how do i check for loose card or short circuiting???

i did some searching and found this (hopefully this helps u all)
ami bios no beep , no display 3 causes
1)psu
2)loose card ??
3)short circuiting (how do i check for this)

I think its time you try your new xt on your friends comp or better take it your dealer, if the card is working fine, then we can safely assume it's either your psu or something with your m/c.

Go thru' your m/c manual or d/l it from msi's site, see if your m/c requires a jumper to be set for agp or something like that.

As for your loose card, its same like you ram, you just know when its fit into the slot evenly. i dont think that's the problem.

p.s.- no use tryin' in your system if psu is the issue, you might end up damaging the card.
