A reader just sent in this amazing “NVIDIA Human Head Demo†clip, which is basically a “real-time rendering of Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer), rendered on the new GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics card.†Video after the break.

For all those who are owing Geforce 8 series... they are damn lucky guys..

NVIDIA Demo: Human Head

NVIDIA's GeForce 8800 Ultra demo "Human Head" delivers a startling leap forward in realism for real-time characters. A new sum-of-Guassians formulation of subsurface scattering within a multi-layered skin model coupled with the blazing shading performance of GeForce 8800 Ultra enables rendering of realistic human skin at a level never before seen in real-time.
To evaluate the complex skin shader and HDR lighting, "Human Head" computes 17 offscreen textures every frame totaling over 40 Million pixels, each shaded with lengthy pixel shaders. That's more than 1.2 billion pixels every second! 4096 x 4096 color and normal textures provide photo-realistic detail even at extremely close ranges. All this shading and texture processing requires both a level of shader performance and memory bandwidth unavailable until now thanks to GeForce 8800 Ultra

PS:This indeed shows real human face and utilising power of series 8
I am desperate to buy series 8 card now!!

Wow. Simply amazing. Thats exactly why am thinking of buying a mid range DX10 card like 8500-8600 over highend DX9 card

We've seen demos by the dozen. Buying new cards is useless until games that utilise this kinda power release.

I'm not even thinking of a GPU upgrade until I see something that convinces me to dump my 78gt

i dont think 8800GTX cards are so much complex that it will render this much realistic graphics in any games developed with complex shaders n stuffs. but i think there will be in future series 9 cards which will support full support for SM 4.0.. remember series 6 werent so powerful for SM 3.0 and well series 7 were taken over on series 6 cards.. so same will happen over here. series 8 will shade in some months and series 9 will b beast coming into market with 512 shader processors + (thats my guess) hope for the best for now :)

Thats just a technicle demonstration of Dx10 shaders and multi sub divided shaders, Im waiting for games to utilise something like this.

8800GTX is nothing as of now. i saw thread here about G90 :P lol thats 9800GTX Series!! well i guess 9800 will be released by Fall 07.. its sure to have 512+ Shader processors and SLi setup will have 1024shader processors :) and current 8800GTX cards are just like DX10 samples :P they are not meant for future games for 1900x1200+ resolutions thats my judgement/speculations according to nVIDIA's strategy every time :)
