Suggestions taken sunny. Will discuss the movies and let you know soon.

Can anyone tell me where to find the short film by Satyajit Ray called "Two". Also, please let me know about its copyrights. We want to screen it with full permission. What I know is that we won't encounter any problems with copyrights as we are conducting a free screening (no commercialism involved), but we just want to be foolproof.

Vene i am searching for "Two" for ages :P
If you want to show two movies of Ray, try one artsy surreal film like pather panchali/apur sansaar/charulata :S and one entertainer like Nayak/Sonar Kella/ Kapurush-Mahapurush :ohyeah:

Btw, are you getting reels or just playing dvds?

If you want the reels, you can contact "Nandan Theater, kolkata" :)

DVD's only. Reels would be too much of a hassle for us. :(

Language barrier :(

Its interesting you characterised their scripts as poems, don't think i've heard that before.
Do you mind watching movies with subtitles? If not, then there is no language barrier. :) If yes, however, then you may opt for a dubbed version, something which I won't recommend (personal opinion).

Ray's films often use less dialogue and more music and visuals to portray the scene. This is pretty similar to poems which often have large meanings compressed into small stanzas. :)

Goopi gyne Baaga byne would be my choice for the entertainer, even though I am open to the ones you have suggested too. :) Thanks for the suggestions. "Two" would be a dream come true, if we manage to screen it.

Valuable knowledge gained. Thanks. :) Does Nandan Theater have the reels of "Two"?

starchazer has generously submitted a couple of his films for Ray Film Festival. If any of you guys are into making films, then please contribute. I will post all the events with details soon over here.

Only criteria for entering competition is that you must be a college student. Otherwise your films will be screened, if approved of by the Ray Film Festival committee.
