Hi all,
I think it would be a great idea to have a direct link to the mods. For things like moving threads or merging posts & all such miscellenous stuff wouldn't it be a good idea? What do the mods think about this one? Check out my guide
& I have no idea why no mod merged it & stuff

You have a direct link.. just PM any mod. And why are you in such a hurry to get it done.
Mods will do it at their leisure.

Adding to Ren's post :

PM any one of GMods / Mods to get attention to something, thats as direct as you can get.

About why your post has not been merged, it is very important to realize that GMods/Mods are not on-line 24 hrs a day, and as & when we do login we have tons of things on our hands, also sometimes we might miss your post completely - point in case, i missed your post till now.

So be patient else next time just PM any Mods/GMods.

^

Yep , Ren and Dipdude are right - a PM is your direct link to any of us! Should you need something, have a look at the Who's Online list below to see which Mods are online and then PM them for a response.

P.s: Please use the PM route only for urgent work, do not harass the mods with each and every task. All the mods do this on a voluntary basis and will get down to doing the work as and when they get time - however should it be missed, then you can contact them to notify the same :)

Lemme modify the initial request little bit so that it makes more sense. The Who's Online List is there but it's kinda weird. It has 3 options Members, All & Search Bots. Could we've a fourth one Mods. so we know if some mod is online & can attract his attention to whatever. Pulling through 6-7 pages as people go in & out is not atleast my idea of fun. Furthermore the mods don't have any differentiation from other members. So unless one knows that this is a mod he's able to miss them. For e.g. I saw Renegade as well as bottle in the Who's online list next to each other now as I've just read this post I remember that Renegade is a mod. while bottle I don't know. So just like here if the mod. had some kind of avatar or something which differentiated them from other members it would be great atleast for me.

I understand that completely. I use the PM route very sparingly atleast with the mods. What perhaps would be efficient is some corner something like the feedback corner where all this routine work can be piled in as stated before & the mods can shift through it at their own leisure. After each job/request is done the job is marked done &/or deleted so one knows how the pipeline is moving. I don't know what queing systems you 've in place right now but this does seem efficient. It's just an idea/request. I leave it in u'r able hands to do what seems best :)

the names of mods appear in dark blue/green bold font in the whose online list while regular members are normal grey . shouldnt that be enough ?

Adding to Bottle's post -

The easiest way to find Mods or any member online is via the forum index page - http://www.techenclave.com/forums/, scroll down - What's Going On? -

Currently Active Users - and you would see names of members/mods online.

About distinction of Staff from normal user - all staff members would have there names in Bold + they would be Color Coded for ex - Mods, Super Moderator, Admins and so on. Of course all this is easily apparent if you check the Currently Active Users tab in the forum index page.

Or again from the index page - scroll down - click on TechEnclave Staff and you would get sneak peek of all the staff members + their role + their on-line status.

------

PS : Shirish, its high time you start exploring TE on your own, only with that you would learn new things & see how things work here - that would solve most of your doubts and you wouldn't have to post a query in feedback. Also, don't forget to search before you post.

Apart from the above post, each staff member has a RANK TAG below their name.
Which looks like
g_mod.gif

For super mods and so on.

I think its pretty easy to distinguish mods from normal members as the color names etc help to totally differentiate between members and mods. This is actually the first time someone has said that he hasnt been able to differentiate between mods and members...which is sort of interesting;)

Anyways, i think Dipdude's post above answers all your questions. And, if there is any post which you find is offensive or against the rules, you can use the report post feature to notify the mods. We keep a close track on all the reported posts and since its a feature we provide to the members, i think it should be used in a better fashion. But, while reporting, its important that you kindly mention a valid reason and not some vague words.

Thanks.

I could see the rank tag before also. The only thing was I didn't know all the mods, supermods & site admins & the color stuff. Dipdude really helped there so he should 've got a rep. but can't (need to spread some rep. around :( ) Now atleast now the different functions of the mods, super mods & site admins so I know whom to approach for what or when.

u caught me there. When one is desperate & trying to see who's there online or not a combination of bleary eyes (courtesy BSNL home 500) & being a newbie makes for some interesting experiences :)

Well I don't know about bad posts, spam or anything like that as that's a judgement call & I more often than not tend to ignore such stuff rather than report. The same thing with offensive stuff. Give them a chance of doubt but still if they wanna be offensive then take appropriate action. Real life=reel life. My main motivations were far less spectacular & selfish improving my posts/threads & at times getting threads closed as my motives are fulfilled. Of course if some other member feels like hijacking the thread on a connected topic then it's o.k.

Lastly thanx all for u'r patience :)
