A Good Camera to start with!!!

Guys,

Help me in coming up with a good under budget camera. Budget is 200$.Will be getting it from US probably...

I am very much Interested in photography but budget never permits me to go with a good start..Finally planning to get something for now and within a year or so, will switch to DSLR!!!

Please help me with ur Inputs / suggestions. Looking forward to buy it within a day or two.

If from the US, you can try to get a used/refurb dSLR - it would be within your budget.

Try it out, then decide if you wish / would be really interested in photography.
 
Whatever you get make sure your camera has Manual mode, so that you can get basics and learn to control various settings.
Try to get prosumer/semi-SLR camera( Camera that look like small DSLR and have long zoom lens).

I would still suggest a used/refurb dSLR over a new prosumer compact.

Unless you feel the bulk of the SLR while carrying/using/set-up, you may not understand what you are getting into. The Canon SX can slip in to a jacket pocket comfortably, a SLR can't.

There was a brand new Sony HX9V available for sale on TE. You may also check it out.

I hope you are aware of what buying into a DSLR system entails. Don't mean to discourage you one bit, but just be informed about your choices.

You could begin your search for a used DSLR at any of these places- (They'll have refurbed ones as well)

I would really suggest starting a new thread if you are going to buy a DSLR, with a title like 'Recommend refurb/used DSLR from US within xyz budget'

Would also be a good idea to get in touch with Brendon or apollyon via pm or otherwise as they are quite a bit experienced in these matters.

Edit: You could also consider going the Micro Four Thirds route. That way you could get a new EPL1 with the kit lens for $300 or used/refurb for ~$200.

Are you living in the US or India?

I believe this is the same one - Canon EOS 1100-D CAMERA WITH18-55 IS MK II LENS 2YR CANON WARRANTY NEW YEAR DEAL | eBay - Probably a better bet since it's brand new, provided you're in India of course.
