Dats very true. 4850 is overkill for 1440x900 res. I think a 9600GT should suffice. :cool2:

Ya for other games but not for Crysis & GTA4

HD 4870 512 MB is available for 9K then thats the good deal ,

the point of 4770 is, it consumes much less power, OC like hell. And as it consumes much less power, you can always CrossFire 2 4770 and get stunning result in even a Full HD 22"/23" whatever you plan to buy later. If you have a good PSU like VX450, it can power even 3 4770s with ease. :)

I completely agree with few people who suggesting for 4770 40nm.for 19" 4770 is more then enuf it will play most of the games without any fuss.

4770 is good, but its costlier than 4850, which makes the 4850 a better buy.

Though, for this resolution, even the 4770 or 4850 is overkill...:cool2:
If u have the money, u can get anything u want, though :P

Mate,
The cost factor will be easily negated in long run by simply the amount of power saved, 4770 uses full 40 watts less energy when underload,
considering its power saving advantage, Overclockabilty, less amount of heat generation & humble psu requirements, i think a slight premium over 4850 is justified.

^^^ right.

plus, there is not much price diff. At least I see in Lynx that difference is around 300/-.

ya buy 4850 512 mb card....for 1440X900 ...u can play all types of games

or u buy a 9800gt 512mb card

both are best for 1440X900

Mate ! How can you advice him on buying a 4850 instead of a 4770 and be future proof  ! As 4770 is as good as 4850 at stock, where as an overclocked 4770 kicks the ass of 4850 !

Telling this by experience, As i have owned both 4850 as well as 4770 !
right now the best bang for buck is 4770 :hap2:.

Dude, seriously...either you did not read my post properly or u are not that good with english..Please carefully see that I said "4770" is highly recommended.

Dude,

Your post itself is confusing ! Agreed you recomended 4770, But you are opining that 4850 is future proof ! Please tell me how does he become future proof by buying a 4850 ?

Neither of them are future proof. 58xx are here :P

HD 4850 = 6.8K

HD 4770 = 7.4K

if they were priced equal or lower than HD 4850 truly HD 4770 is nice one to buy , But HD 4850 is lower but still to think abt power consumption . if they OP wouldn't spend much on PSU then his choice is HD 4770 , if he spends on PSU then HD 4850 !!

If he's going for single card , let him go for 4850. But if he's CF'ing then thou shalt go for 4770.

First of all, a guy who is ready to buy a 4770 will definitely invest in a good PSU.
Secondly, even if 4770 consumes less power than 4850, what does it matter. U'll play how many hours a day???

Even if 4770 is good and overclockable, 4850 also is. When overclocked 4850 will anyday beat a overclocked 4770.
And finally, 4850 is cheaper than 4770.
So, 4850 definitely makes a good choice but at this resolution, its still a overkill.

And regarding futureproof, nothing is. U buy this card and 6 months down the lane there will be games taking the juice out of it.
Get a card which can play today's game at good settings that's all...

For a reference, my overclocked 4850 plays nearly every game possible at HD (Crysis at 1680x1050) :cool2: So, u decide what u need for 1440!

I second that. If you plan to CrossFire ( now or later ), get the 4770. Else 4850.
