Guys what build of Win 7 are you using there have been releases after RC1 too should one get that or the RC1 , and how long will these release work.

You can try rc1 or any other release after that but don't install any version that came before rc1. Enjoy it buddy.

i had problems wid my ati drivers on vista ...did the usual drill...uninstall old drivers...clean with drive sweeper...and then install new driver..

but the driver wudnt install at all...only a small portion of my 22 inch screen wud be utilized....

so after try a number of driver versions and combinations and permutatuions...i finally gave up..

and installed the windows 7 64 bit build 7100...

and it detected the full hd screen widout hte drivers and utilized the full screen and the latest 9.6 drivers installed on the first attempt ..and so did rest of the drivers for my mobo etc

its running great and looks good.

only qualms ..no daemon tools for windows 7 and the task bar is kinda thick for my liking ...the resize option can only increase the size of the bar ..cant reduce the width further..

But still its the best in the way it is.

Well I had pretty bad experience with Win 7 RC1 32-bit It installed properly but nothing on my MoBo was detected & MoBo driver suite had a field day getting it to work. Worst came when had to install CCC, both 32-bit & 64-bit version were rejected. I then reformatted my disk & went back to XP 64-bit.

Ur case is the first one in which user shifts from win7 to xp.

Interesting data in this thread.

I'm using Win 7 (7100) in my laptop (dual boot with XP) & desktop (dual boot with vista). Both running flawlessly & without the need to install any drivers. For my Acer 4520, the battery life went up in Win 7 compared to XP <may be cause the lappie was designed for Vista>

Anyways, i have a question for the Netbook users. Anyone running Win7 + office 2007? How's the performance for that? I plan to pick up the samsung n110 or asus 1000HE.

Win 7 is actually done! The full build string is "6.1.7600.16385.090713-1255" :ohyeah:

Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 have hit the Release to Manufacturing milestone. OEMs can get their hands on it this Friday, while MSDN and TechNet subscribers will be able to get it on August 6. Consumers will have to wait until October 22.

:cool2:

The full build string is still not 100% confirmed... I guess it will only be confirmed once legitimate users get their hands on the RTM image :)

7600.16385 is the final build number. Microsoft refused to share the full build string, but if you trust leaks from a few days ago, it's "6.1.7600.16385.090713-1255," which indicates that the final build was compiled over a week ago: July 13, 2009, at 12:55pm. This would be in line with the rumored RTM date but it is also the day Microsoft stated that Windows 7 had not yet hit RTM. Although the final build had been compiled, Microsoft still had to put it through testing before christening it as RTM.

Thats weird. In my desktop there was no need to install any drivers! Thats the beauty of windows 7, almost everything is "inbuilt" Connect to the internet and check for latest updates, it ideally should download the needed drivers (updates) for you.

Guys, going a bit OT here but what graphics driver have you peeps installed on the Netbooks? I've an Atom combo here running Win 7 32bit RC7100 but unable to find a graphics driver for it. Hence the desktop looks weird. :(

Anyone updated from 7100 to the latest and felt some noticable difference in anything???

Lol I know about the beauty of Win7 but my question was specifically targeted to the users of an Atom based system and Win 7. Dont think none has tried the combination. Except for the choppy display, everything else runs fluid on the system which has a GB of RAM.

I'd be trying a shot of a later release sometime later.
